If Juliette Lewis and Amber Gray don’t make you think “unhinged, vaguely threatening alien person, but make it rock and roll,” then I don’t know who would.
And Josh Rivera is hot as hell.

I am already sat. The ushers are telling me to leave studio 54 because Oedipus is still running, but I am simply too sat.
Juliette Lewis may not be an A-lister but my eyes still popped out of my head as I screamed "JULIETTE LEWIS???" so they've got me.
I think the whole cast sounds great although Josh gives me Brad vibes not Rocky but I'm probably just mentally typecasting him.
It also brings me a particular pleasure to see MJ Rodriguez work steadily after practically being ignored for being the beating heart of Pose. Awards bodies latched onto Porter because it felt more comfortable for them to touch a queerness they already understood (Yes I know she won the Golden Globe the year they weren't televised). I'm just glad she hasn't been abandoned as so often to happens to marginalized actors once there's no longer a Very Special Project to suck them dry in support of.

Great choices all around, but I'm particularly excited about Stephanie Hsu. She was my favorite part of Be More Chill, and I'm THRILLED that she's going to be back on Broadway.
For those questioning Academy Award nominee Juliette Lewis’ casting, as a front woman for her own band, she’s more that legitimately qualified for THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW:

My friend and I are going - bought HipTix back in October (missed the good seats so in rear mezz). RHPS is one of her favorites - she is PSYCHED over this casting - specifically losing her mind over Juliette Lewis as Magenta.
Magenta’s reputation looms huge for a character who canonically only has six or seven lines. It’s a pure vibes role.

Yeah, both she and Columbia are almost glorified cameos- though Columbia has slightly more to do with her involvement with Eddie.

Also, the actresses who play Magenta also play Trixie (Usherette) who opens the show singing “Science Fiction/Double Feature” as well as its reprise at the end of the show, not counting her parts in “The Time Warp.” She’s more than just a “vibes role.”
For the folks underwhelmed by the casting, what would have excited you? I'm a big fan of the show and my initial reaction to the cast line up is that it looks pretty stellar. For me, in terms of vibes it's through the roof... As long as everybody is up to the task vocally, I think we're in for a real treat.

Michaela has been filming the Apple TV series for three seasons and has evidently been recording as she just released new music. I am glad to see her finally on Broadway. Hopefully in a leading role in the future!

MJ Rodriguez might have been the beating heart of Pose, but she’s a horrible actress. Horrible. Awful.
Curious to see Sam's work as it's been so hit or miss.
What a stunning, diverse, exciting cast. Josh was excellent in American Sports Story, Harvey is brilliant in everything, and I never ever wanted Stephanie Hsu to leave The Marvelous Ms. Maisel. Looking forward to this show now!

This seems a little dramatic. Maybe she was bad on Pose, but also look at the material she was given. That was 4 years ago. Can we hope that she's gotten better and let her get a chance at Broadway? She was Angel in the Rent revival before Pose and was great. So.. maybe see her in this production then form an opinion.

You’re right! I will hope she’s gotten better and go in with an open mind!

This means nothing nowadays. The days of Americans taking in the same media are long gone. With everyone living in their own silos, one persons “idol” is another person’s “who?” You could show people on the street pictures of Chappell Roan or Jacob Elordi and most people wouldn’t know who they are.

I don't doubt the cast is capable, it's just not overly unique. This same cast could also easily do a regional production of The Addams Family.
Maybe I was naive thinking of people like Alan Cumming, Escola , the RPDR stars, more SNL alumni, one of the Jonas as Rocky, etc
To be a property that every performers alive swears they would give all they have to be a part of, the choices seem generic to me.
Will it still be high quality? Likely. But for a show that may not be revived again on Broadway within my lifetime, it's not exactly a do-or-die production on paper.
I thought Michaela was very good in POSE. I spent a lot of time in black gay bars and around the ball culture people back in the day. Knew a lot of people like Blanca. And she was wonderful in "RENT". Saw her several times in the show. JMO

What regional theatre have you been attending that this is the sort of cast you would expect?
This cast would NEVER occur regionally.
Some of y'all got too carried away in your dream-casting to appreciate the fun, funny, talented, diverse, awarded and just bonkers cast we have here. If anything, Luke is really going to have to work harder to be remembered opposite some of these people. I'm so excited for Michaela Jae (an AMAZING Angel in that Rent revival) to be playing with Juliette Lewis (!) and I can't wait for Rachel to play with the audience as Narrator, and can't wait to be surprised by Josh and Harvey.

OMG! I didn't even notice that Anania was going to be on this (understudying Riff Raff and Magenta). She is so much fun. I saw her play The Wizard in Fagtasia's Wicked show.
