I saw James Stovall perform Frank in the 2000 revival and he was incredible!

I didn’t know I needed this and I am HERE FOR IT! Those Frank vocals will besilkyand for once I’ll be able to see a Frank where I totally understand how they are the pansexual icon that they are."
I was actually thinking as I opened this thread that there is no likely candidate at all for Frank that could get me excited. This is a brilliant pick. This is what should happen!

Why would anyone in the business cast Billy in anything at this point? To lose half their potential audience?
So Luke Evans (Gaston) is the new rumor. I’m sure he’d be fine in it, but it definitely isn’t an exciting choice OR a big name. Eh.

Not necessarily a jump up and cheer sort of casting, but I think it could be fun. I think Luke Evans is rather underrated as an actor, and he doesn't get enough opportunities to flex his comedic chops. Something as big and broad as Rocky Horror could really show a new side to him, especially if the show around him is lively enough.

Certainly not the most exciting name - I feel like his time has kind of passed - but he does have a musical theatre background, so it might be fun to see him give his all to the role. (I did see him in RENT: Remixed in the West End, but that's another story...)
Fra Fee as Frank, Austin Butler as Rocky, please.
In Still the Beast is Feeding, they make a big deal about how prior to the movie, Tim Curry played Frank butch, aggressive and masc despite his drag. The eerie, masculine/feminine blend we know today was mostly created for the film.
Given that interpretation, it does make a certain sense to cast the only major openly gay action movie star as Frank.
I look forward to reading all about Tim Curry's Rocky Horror experience in his new memoir "Vagabond", published soon! I wonder if he'll feature what you describe, darquegk, and maybe explain why the switch.

Is the Action Movie Star in the room with us?
I'm not gonna say he's never been in an Action movie, but I certainly would never call him an Action Star.

Is Timothee Chalamet no longer in the rumour mill?
I definitely could see Luke Evans doing well as Frank. (I also agree Austin Butler as Rocky would be great... but unlikely). I really think Corbin Bleu will be Brad.
I may be in the minority (and so be it) but I find the idea of this revival so boring.
The movie has transcended the stage play, and that is evident by how so many aspects of the film have been integrated into the stage show.
You wanna Time Warp again?
Just watch the “Picture Show”

Broadway was the home of the last major production that decidedly veered away from the movie for its aesthetics, so why not again?

Jonathan Bailey would like a word…
Also, that’s a name that needs a Broadway debut and would be FANTASTIC!

I'd pay big bucks for that.
I would rather they cast big names in some of the other roles and cast someone really bizarre and esoteric as Frank. Someone who could completely overhaul that character and make it seem surprising and dangerous.
Hear me out... Patti LuPone as Frank. Who's more frightening?

But you also have to love Frank and have someone in the role who can have fun with it and make the audience feel comfortable enough to yell at him and joke back and forth the entire show. Its a real fine line with that show and character.

He is, though. Aside from the live action BatB, his most recognizable film role is in the Fast & Furious franchise as Jason Statham's brother.
Frank is not supposed to make the audience comfortable. That goes against everything that character is. They're supposed to be so challenging to all that is "socially acceptable" that even the other queer characters declare their lifestyle to be "too extreme." Frank should be a "freak" and I think we've gotten entirely to familiar with a sexy Frank with an English accent. I need a Divine in Pink Flamingos Frank vs a "live, laugh, love," Taylor Swift-loving millennial Brad and Janet. Make this show freaky and punk again.

The actor playing the role needs to make the audience comfortable enough to go back and forth with, yes. A Frank who scares or intimidates the audience away from participating or having fun might work for some kind of another (god forbid) film remake but in person that can’t work with what this show has become.
