There are no union rules about doing a midnight show in lieu of a 7 or 8pm show. I wonder if the idea has been tossed about to have a few select performances at midnight rather than the traditional showtime. I absolutely would attend a midnight showing of RHS, regardless of any inane casting.
Possibly an alternative to a matinee? I feel like it just doesnt feel right to walk out of Rocky Horror into Daylight.
Keep in mind that Roundabout is a subscription house which skews older. Will that crowd want a late night show? It’s an interesting choice for them to do this one at all. I hope they do it justice.
A midnight show is a great idea but they’d need some insane star power to guarantee people would actually be there for it, especially in the enormous Studio 54 (which is so wrong for this show anyways, but I won’t get started on that).
And after speaking to a producer earlier this year, I was under the impression that this was going to be a joint Roundabout/ATG venture which Im still not certain about.
Although there isn't a union rule I am aware of preventing a midnight show, Equity does require a 12-hour period between the end of employment on one day and the start of employment on the next. Presumably, a midnight show would be best on Friday or Saturday, which means matinees would need to be either pushed back or eliminated- some kind of nonstandard scheduling would need to be done (something like a later matinee, like 5pm, and then the midnight show).
Since Roundabout is a subscription house, I would imagine the logistics of accommodating a midnight show and then messing around with the performance schedule that week could become difficult. Roundabout's older subscribers are...finicky.

Roundabout has a new management team -- Chris Ashley and Rebecca Habel -- who are both smart and realize that the old RTC subscriber "base" are rapidly dying off (or moving to Florida) -- and they know they need to bring in new audiences. The "old school" rules don't apply here.

I just threw up a little in my mouth...."

Chris Ashley is in Management? Like 2000 Rocky Horror Chris Ashley? Could we just get a remount? I'll give anything!

Christopher Ashley will be joining as Roundabout's new Artistic Director in July 2026, months after this revival opens. Scott Ellis is currently the Interim Artistic Director.

Hear me out.
I was thinking about having Greg Page from the Wiggles portray the narrator (it probably won't happen).
Also was thinking of Austin Butler as frank.

A boring straight white boy? Unless he's gonna go method like Elvis and start running around the gay clubs, I'm not interested...
We gotta stop pushing uncharismatic people into these roles...
My brain just thought up something. If they don’t need “names” for all the roles, why not get a real life couple for Brad & Janet?
Eric William Morris and Alyse Alan Louis would be perfect, especially since the latter has some rock in her voice for Janet’s songs.
