"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I must say, I am deeply disheartened at the outrageous mocking and hatred towards Rosie O'Donnell by members of this theatre community.
By all means, make fun. You have the right to like or dislike her. I, too, have poked fun at many a person here on the boards. However, to do so under these circumstances is fathomable. She suffered a HEART ATTACK. That's very dangerous. Whether or not you like her as a person, in our community she has done EVERYTHING for us. She promoted Broadway to a nationwide audience when hardly anyone else would. She produced shows, performed in shows, hosted the Tony Awards, founded Rosie's Broadway Kids, raised/donated MILLIONS to BC/EFA, and is one of our best cheerleaders.
She has a heart attack, and you MOCK her? Deplorable. This is not the context in which to do so. Bad form.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

You're mocking her (admittedly annoying) writing style when she just had a heart attack? What a classy, empathetic bunch you are. I'll sure you'll find it hilarious when you have a serious illness.
