I’d go so far to say that this locks her Tony.
At tonight’s show, during the entr’acte, when the camera catches Norma in her dressing room, Nicole had the bullhorn to her mouth and the crowd went UP.
It was an exceptionally electric performance tonight. Three mid show standing ovations this evening. I’ll miss this production very much once it closes.
Also, Oprah was there!
This evening during the beginning of Act 2 when Tom goes into Nicole’s dressing room, she had her bullhorn and was playing with it. Hilarious!

It's cool, of course. But if this happened at the Majestic, Audra wouldn't need a bullhorn.

I don’t even know what this is supposed to mean.
Is it a handicap to need something to amplify your voice in a theater that holds over seventeen hundred people…? 🙄

it was obviously a publicity stunt...they allowed the audience to all come in, get seated. cancel the show. -and Nicole uses a blow-horn to sing one of musical most important songs?? Doesn't add up. Reeks to publicity stunt during Tony season. Of course during a Wednesday matinee. Is that even "legal" under union or equity rules? any production or stage managers on here?? I can't imagine coming out to sing Rose's Turn with a blow horn if her production was canceled.

and audra wouldn't come out to sing rose's turn at a canceled show. the whole thing was a publicity stunt for tony season.
Maybe I’m naive but I just don’t believe they’d cancel a show for a publicity stunt. Not when the $$$ are involved (although I’ll admit the NYTimes was seemingly very quick and ready to publish that article!). Also, I’m all for labor rights but to complain about the legality of the star performing one song from their own show on their own stage to their own audience in the time originally scheduled for the show to perform is exactly the kind of strange attitude that I find crosses over from trying to protect labor rights to just being an annoying combative blocker. Who is the victim here?

No. But it is quite a talent to not need anything to do so.

Thanks for joining this morning just to spew something you know nothing about.
This would only come from one person on here that I would bet money on who you are. You just don’t give up. Do you?

Oh, please. If anything, I think it helped her lose it. Remember when Robert performers could sing to the back of the house without amplification? This woman who everybody raves about is one of our great vocalist needed a megahorn. Give me a break.
It’s a pretty silly argument in my opinion to suggest that ‘but Nicole needed amplification!!’. She obviously has one of the most powerful (and interesting) voices on Broadway today. The song itself is extremely expressive and quiet in many moments - if I recall she didn’t even sing the loud ending.
I have heard either Patti or Audra sing without a mic in a concert (I can’t remember which one) and it’s an amazing novelty to hear but it did sound very quiet because it’s just simply not part of the live performance culture anymore to sing without a mic.
Who sings without a mic today? Literally no one.

Whatever glue these posters are huffing must be the good stuff because if you think Nicole *needed* a bullhorn you very clearly have never heard the woman sing live.
There are bad faith arguments and then there are just plain stupid ones. And these takes fall in both camps.
We get it. You love Audra. Love that! But at least try to operate in reality.

You think they refunded the entire house and denied visitors a chance to see the show for a publicity stunt?

Huh? It’s very common for the star of a show to do something for the audience if the show is unable to go on, whether it’s a Q&A or impromptu performance. There’s nothing against it in their contracts and it’s simply an easy, memorable thing to do for the crowd.
And ofc Scherzinger didn’t need a bullhorn and it’s a lousy way to amplify a song, anyway. It was just a way to have fun with the situation. It’s not that deep.
Oh this thread is a mess now, huh? And let’s stop pretending McDonald (A LEGEND!) needs a 7th competitive Tony. It is perfectly okay for her to not win again. It will make no difference to her career, and may actually be more impactful to another potential nominee.
It is indeed perfectly okay for Audra not to win. But she will win. And that's perfectly okay, too.
Audra shouldn’t win. And that’s ok too.

So Audra stans are now just posting in this thread to troll Nicole stans? Ok…

The free free press the show got from this. NY Times immediately published, plus most of the audience was filming with their phones and posting on social media. The amount of publicity it got is worth much more than canceling a matinee performance.

Oh no, dont get me wrong. I dont think theres anyone who wants it more for nicole to win that tony than me. Ive seen the show in London and immediately booked a trip to see her again in nyc. But I saw a post from a cast member from behind the silver curtain and the theatre was literally half empty. Sad to say. Cant seem to find how to post the photo here.
