Pretty bouncy and fun. Thumbs up to this!
(Throw in some great costumes and sets, and some crackerjack choreo and I’m in&hellip
Bland. Dumb lyrics. Bad melody. Pass.
Absolutely love it. I was nervous after a lukewarm response from a friend who went to the reading, but this is everything I’ve been missing from the shows running right now - catchy, energetic and so much fun!
Sounds like musical comedy heaven. For me, it's one of those rare songs that lands on the first listen, and I've listened to it 3 times already.

Perfect demo for this show! Reminds me of how much I enjoyed the first listen of "Good Morning Baltimore". This one is going to be a BIG hit!

It sounds a lot like Bombshell. I don't think it's as catchy as anything from Hairspray but it's encouraging first listen if you liked Smash.
Loving the horns!
I’m getting “Jet Set” vibes but I dig it.

Exactly... the big-band sound of these same composers' Catch Me If You Can.
This gives off Bandstand vibes as well.

Sounds fabulous, high hopes for this one.
Nice! Hopefully this ends up as a big swing number.

I definitely got a Catch Me If You Can vibe. Not a bad thing in my mind; I love the music from CMIYC. The actual show on the other hand, not so much.
The only part that I didn’t love was Christian Borle’s part. His voice didn’t mesh well with everyone else’s and didn’t seem to fit.

Wondering what kind of deal Borle did with the devil to end up with the career he’s had. There’s never been any THERE there, and this video is the perfect example when compared to every single other of the six or so performers.
Bubbly and catchy, but Shaiman and Wittman always feel like they're writing songs for a musical episode of a sitcom, particularly with the pastichey lyrics and the reliance on that weirdly tense group harmony they always fall back on that you hear at 3:18. Hoping it feels a little looser in a live performance.

I take it you didn’t see him in Peter and the Starcatcher?

The industry loves a tall, skinny, vaguely attractive straight white guy.
I like Borle, but that second Tony win felt like a fluke of a weak year. He doesn't work terribly often, but has shown his breadth as an actor, has found success in comedic and dramatic parts, and can sometimes elevate material (Starcatcher). Give me Borle over Gavin Creel or Andy Karl or Rob McClure any day.
Shaiman & Wittman must also like him, since he was in Smash, Wonka, and now this.

Borle over Creel? You've gone insane. Creel. The voice. Buttah.

I bought my tickets after hearing that song, so it worked on me and they’ve sold at least two tickets. Pure ear-candy, and as much as everyone criticized Smash, that was what Shaiman and Whitman did so well there too.
Good god I LOVE this. I haven't had such high hopes for a new musical in a long time... the music sounds fantastic and I love the lyrics!
