Honestly, I'm just excited to see Solea Pfeiffer back on Broadway

I was pretty pleased with the EP they released last summer. And after seeing Solea in the Florence Gatsby two summers ago, I will gladly see her in anything. I’m excited!

Same. I will see Solea in ANYTHING.

So, we're clear on the name now? Because people have been calling this Gun and Powder for years. Solea is wonderful if she shows up, so I'm hoping for the best with this show.

This was supposed to be Jeanette Bayardelle’s Tony role.

Or, y’know, you could just wait until the show starts papering most of the house in October and take advantage of it. :)
The overall sentiment coming out of last year’s Tier 3 workshop for this was that this show has some enjoyable elements (especially the STRONG vocals), but it seemed to have lost its core identity through recent rewrites. There was real promise out of town so I hear, so that’s disheartening.
It’s your choice, but if I end up seeing this, it’ll most likely be for free. Feels like there’ll be zero buzz for this one. Zippo.

It’s on audience rewards too. The only way this show will succeed is word of mouth. And it will certainly get it, it’s a first rate new musical.

Luke James will play Elijah in the Broadway production.

Luke James and Ledisi probably won't make or break the show, but they're smart to be trying to get some people with followings outside of the theatre world (which Titanique and Maybe Happy Ending also did to mixed success). It's a way to drum up casual interest and media attention for a new property.

The theater choice is a bit worrying to me. The James Earl Jones is SMALL for a musical and requires a show sell out their orchestra at full price most of the time for any hope of financial success (just ask Bright Star). I guess the idea is keeping a tight ticket, but this isn't a 2-person show like Guttenberg! was in the same house (with star power), it has a decently sized cast and orchestra. Only way it succeeds is on the Maybe Happy Ending trajectory and I can guarantee it costs a couple hundred thousand $$ more to run than MHE.
