I thought Cats The Jellicle Ball had a pretty great trailer. The show flopped but the trailer was very effective, i thought. So were Buena Vista early trailers. The best things about this musical are the score and choreo, so trailers marketed all the strongest selling points.

Wanted trailer is not good, tells me nothing about the show. I already have my ticket, but I wish I haven't seen this video.

Even some of the best and most successful musicals in the last number of years had mediocre-to-terrible initial promos and announcement videos.

It's selling well during previews only. After the show opens, it's just wide open. I know shows are hesitant to do it lately, but this show needs a promo code yesterday.

Why just lie about something we can literally go check ourselves?

I really root for these producers because they're some of the nicest people you'll meet in an industry full of total a*sholes, but with this and How To Dance In Ohio, I just fear they don't have particularly strong instincts. Particularly when it comes to jumping on the first theater that becomes available. Shows aren't circling theaters the same way they used to. I hope word of mouth helps this show take off, but can't help but feel it's DOA. A better shot opening in the Spring to avoid the dead of winter.

But what do I know.
