She does fly in the show but I don't recall any scene of hers having a moment where she could hit her head. Her flying scenes aren't as physical as spider-mans or the green goblins. Shes basically just kinda floating around more then anything.

Thanks, Broadway Joe, that's what I thought. It bothers me when people say things here that have no basis in fact, because others pick it up and repeat it as truth.
"Sure you can, if someone is determined enough and you're traceable, and besides, libel has nothing to do with threats."
Yeah...but there's literally no argument that an anonymous message board comment could defame the plaintiff. I would know, I watch "The Good Wife."
Ummm when its about an actress who got a concussion while doing a show that is pushing the envolope for aerial acrobatics that has a history of hurting its actors and there is also no evidence of it not happening during the show...then we have room to speculate

I'm sorry to digress but I just read Riedels write up and I MUST know if Arachne actually says," I am the only real artist working today!" If so thats quite interesting however I can certainly see Riedel making this up.

Ick, did Reidel really track down the heckler and then write about her? I guess I should get used to his antics.

Yeah I'm all for bashing the shows music/book cause it is that bad but it's gotten to the point where all the media and what not is just looking for every little thing to bash them about. It's getting out of hand.

I believe I recall her saying that as well.
I actually liked that article.

I have no idea what that means, especially the portion I bolded.
We have no evidence of it not happening in a Starbucks, so I'm blaming it on a disgruntled barista.
"A, we don't even know she got it in the show
B, Do you have any idea how many actors, dancers get injured on stage? it happens"
It happens, true... but it happened to the costliest show in Broadway history with a history of actor injury already, along with a slew of other issues.
The fact they have yet to disclose how/where it happened is a bit odd. If it wasn't show-related, you'd think they'd want to say so- and quick. It's not like they need any more negative press.
Kad makes a very valid point. You would think the marketing team would be very quick to make it clear that it was not associated with the show. Unless they are hoping it mainfests into more publicity before they come out and officially explain that it had nothing to do with the show.
Seems incredibly coincidental though.
I agree (which is why I said the same thing a page ago.) They are trying to figure out how to 'spin' the information so that it doesn't look like their fault. If she tripped down her own stairs, they'd have been trumpeting the info.
Quick question: it's not unusual for understudies to NOT be prepped this early, is it? I wonder how much time she's had in the flying apparatus? (And if she was hurt on the job, how frightening must it be to have to fill in?)
I would be terrified if I had to fill in...I'd be peeing on the audience for heavens sake.
Ghostlight...I was trying to say that we simply have no evidence WHERE the accident happened. Chances seem best however that it went down at the Foxwood theater
And with the whole "media being unfair" to them...this show has been begging for publicity. It's the largest, most complex Broadway show ever headed by a prominent Broadway director with music by 2 well known musicians with a brand name that is one of the most well known in our culture...of course the media is going to analyze the hell out of it! Esp. with injuries already associated with it.
When I first read the headline I thought,
Karen Olivo is taking over!!!!
That would have been a story, instead it is her cousin from another Mother, America Olivo.
Even if they aren't rehearsing rewrites, most of the actor's time has to be rigging refitting or rushing to the theatre,
The story goes on...
If you were there, how was the understudy?
She would have gone on pretty cold, but most understudies, God bless 'em, are more than ready to jump in at that moment.

Lord of the Rings 2...Electric Boogaloo! Except with crazy flying. Injury after injury. Endless tech and revision. Rehearsing one show during the day and previewing the current show at night. Not pretty.

It's just concussion? Happened to me once (sporting injury) and I recovered in a couple of days. Like a 24 hour bug.
Multiple concussions are a problem, and there's no word of that is there...
I don't know how long ago you had your concussion, but doctors take it much more seriously now. I have hs students told they CANNOT do any work and that they should just sit in class and not DO anything.
Add to that precaution, they aren't going to send her back to FLYING to possible do more damage.
While it was interesting to read the article about the heckler, I'm now convinced she showed up just to cause problems. I mean, what kind of person compares a Broadway show to the BP oil crisis? Either a crazy person or a famewhore. Have a little perspective: one is a piece of entertainment, the other is a massive environmental and economical disaster that caused major problems for millions of people. Ridiculous.

That's a joke, right? (Cousins from the same mother would be called sisters.) Karen Olivo and America Olivo are not related.
p.s. Actually, I'm related too. After all - My mother, Karen's mother and America's mother were all mothers.
Wow all this drama from the usual suspects.
I bet every actor who gets an injury on a show wishes they got this much attention, oddly they never do.....can't think why.
I got concussion during my run in the play 'M', no flying it that one.
My problem with the article about the heckler is that it makes it sound as if it's okay for people to just scream out what they're thinking in a theatre, as if it makes them charmingly opinionated instead of just plain rude.
On a trivia note, might America Olivo (who has an amazing resume) be the first Broadway understudy to have been a Playboy covergirl?
