Well, Miai -- if Hair is the worst show you ever saw....you are a damn lucky person.
And while I believe in 'to each his own' why would you come to a LOVE THREAD to tell us you hated something?
I couldn't really even find flaws in this production. Paulus directed this production so well and hid all the flaws.

Current obsession from the recording:
The end of Three-Five-Zero-Zero- the whole up-tempo gospely part. GAH, so freaking amaaazing!!
Oh and What A Piece of Work Is Man because it is so beautiful
Basically, this recording is PURE LOVE and I need to go see the show again PRONTO <3
HAIR, in and of itself, has problems structurally. Especially in the second act.
But as I said in my review of the first preview, this incredible production does what all revivals should do. It highlights the great things about the material and almost sweeps the not-so-great parts under the rug by doing the best it can with them. Paulus' direction is really something special.
It's a very good show that has been blessed with a beyond great revival. It's the best show on Broadway and the new cast recording is one of the best I've heard in a while.
Tomorrow the cast of Hair is going to be at Macys in Herald Square..this is from the Macys website..

I just got the cast recording and it's now my heart and soul. I love it so much. Unfortunately,
I'm 14 and I live in Tennessee. I will never be able to see this show. You guys have no idea how lucky you are. To top if off, my city has only had 1 equity tour come to town and is having its second this April (the first equity tour was Mamma Mia and the second one will be Mamma Mia), so the tour will most likely not come to my town.

I feel for you, kid, but hop a train. I saw the original cast of HAIR when I was 16, and subsequently worked at the theatre in Chicago with that city's tribe for about 8 months. So you never know. On that note, I'm dying to see the current cast and production. So much buzz, and I feel like a kindrid spirit. Any info or thoughts how soon I would have to fly in from Chicago to catch the current cast before replacements occur. I'm sure they would be great, but really want to see this current cast first.
That's the norm for the original cast...and I doubt any of them are "big enough" to warrant special agreements; but you never know.
But when it does happen, I certainly hope that they cast as carefully as the originals and that they can sustain the magic!

AH!!! I talked to my mother yesterday and she said I very well might see it!! Where I live is 3 hours from Atlanta, 3 hours from Nashville, 4 hours from Charrlotte, and 15 Hours from Ft.Lauderdale/Miami (All my family lives down there and I go there all the time). My Mom says I can see the tour if it comes to any of those cities. And to top if off, I might see In The Heights in March in Ft. Lauderdale!!! :) AND, my mom says that if finances look good, we might be able to go to New York sometime in the 2009-2010. She said if we go to New York, we will see In The Heights (rather than seeing it in Ft. Lauderdale) and I can use the money I've saved to by a ticket to Hair! Woo-Hoo!!!!! I now I'll have to wait a minimum of a year and a half... But, Hey!!!! I'll wait a year and a half rather than not seeing it!!! :) WOO!!!!!! I'm so happy. I've been in a happy mood ever since, you will notice posts that are less snarky from this point on!

I finally got to see Hair today, and I just had to come here and say... I LOVED it!! I don't know if I've ever been in a theatre filled with such energy and joy. Every cast member shone, though I must admit I couldn't get my eyes off of Will Swenson! I walked out of the theatre feeling so inspired and energized, and though I didn't stagedoor, I really wanted to say thank you to everyone involved for this incredible production!
***** spoiler alert regarding audience interaction *****
So, I was sitting in Orchestra A101. When Will (Burger) asked me for a change while thrusting his pelvis *ahem* right in front of my face, I ended up handing him my wallet. Well, he brought it onstage, picked out a $20 bill, gave me back the wallet, and put the $20 in his crotch At that moment I figured the money was gone from me lol and it was ok because I had such a great time at the show, but does anyone know what they do with the money? Do they donate it to BroadwayCares, maybe? Either way, I still can't believe my $20 ended up in Will's crotch... haha.

I'm sure it is. Or it goes in the "coffe club" for the green room!
