There's a new cast blog up (at least on facebook). Will and Gavin rocking out to Beyonce.
But it makes me wonder: when Hair closes, is someone gonna have to repaint backstage? Or will their artwork live on forever? lol

Posted: 7/24/09 at 6:33pmThe HAIR artwork will be visible forever. I understand that the cop graffiti on the stage wall from RENT was pretty visible during the recent run of Guys and Dolls. But that's cool because it's all part of theatrical history, haha LOL.

Claudio, the back wall in Hair IS a set, it is not the actual back wall of the theatre. It was built for this production. Like the set design in the park, the set design is made to look like an actual part of the venue. LOL

haha yeah, I meant backstage, not the back wall. I've seen it in a bunch of videos now. Apparently the cast got a little crazy during tech rehearsal, which is completely understandable.
and congrats raggballad! not a bad first show at all (:

Here ya go. I'll give the full details in a minute, but the NYC trip is definitely looking like it will happen.

Ok,
My mom called my Grandmother on the phone and mentioned how I was dying to see HAIR and how it would be a great idea to tag along on her next business trip to NYC. My Grandmother used to listen to the 5th dimension's rendition of 'Aquarius' all the time (which I was aware of). When my mom mentioned HAIR, my Grandmother literally said (in spanish) 'Is that the show where they all get naked?'. My mom was aware that the cast did take off their clothes at the end of the first act, so she laughed and said yes. My Grandmother then mentioned that she saw the HAIR over 30 years ago in Miami on tour (which I was not aware of). All of that has nothing to do with the NYC trip, but that really excited me and I wanted to share that story with the Starshines, lol.
Ok, back to the NYC trip. My Grandmother told my mom that she hasn't been to NYC on business in a very long time, but she said she will do whatever she can to get me to NYC as soon as possible. She told my mother that she has lots of great friends (whom I have known all my life) who travel in and out of Manhattan that would love to have a me tag along with them. I really feel kind of guilty about the next option, because I really don't like making people spend a lot of money for me (even when I'm not MAKING them),but my Grandmother said she would gladly pay for a hotel for me to stay in with my Uncle (who lives in NYC, but he has cats in his apartment that I am very allergic to). My options are looking good

So I was surfing through Wikipedia (I know, not a very reliable source lol) and it mentioned the trouble this revival had at getting together enough funds early on and it lists teh cost of the Broadway transfer as $5.5 million. Now obviously no one knows the weekly nut for HAIR, but with 6 or so weeks grossing over a million dollars, is it possible HAIR might already recoup in the next few months?

Posted: 7/25/09 at 1:11amOMG Jazzy that is so great I mean I know it's just horrible when people give you things and do nice things and spend money on you but maybe you can iron your grandmother's sweater or something but you should be careful about your uncle with the cats youre so allergic too because he could still have their allergy stuff on his clothes and stuff when he comes to see you and you could have an attack and even worst there could be a cast member who also is allergic and it could be your fault if somebody has to leave after act one because he or see is too sick and there underestudy has gone on and that would be a bummer don't get me wrong because each of the understudies are great and they really make there part they're own so you would be okay if they went on but what if you are too sick to stay for act two and then it would be such a waste of money to your grandmother who obviously wants you to go see the show that she went to in the olden days from which this show is apparently a revival which I was not aware of.

Not too long after the reviews and the sales boost afterwards, the producers were able to make their first "payment" of a return....about 10%, if I remember correctly. This is a big cast, but the word was that ALL of them were working for scale. (Which is why I think that Gavin's contract was short...so he could re-negotiate quickly to make up for that.)
Hair will DEFINITELY re-coup.....but hard to say when -- but I would guess WELL within it's first year. However, they are still relying on discounts as they released another going to mid August.

Posted: 7/25/09 at 3:02pmGreat! I was wondering when they would finally be on The View. About a month ago, Whoopi saw the show and raved about it the next day. She said something like, "I want them on the show even if I have to go down to the theater and drag them here by myself."
