Thanks for the explanation about the playbills dramamama. When I was handed a Playbill my first thought was why are they not in color anymore. Also, the welcome flyer that comes in the playbill has been changed as well.

Is Heath Calvert replacing Ryan Link?
Considering the creative team has refused to put him on as Berger again over the last few months (even though they've had ample opportunities to do so,) it would make sense if his contract wasn't being renewed.

Heath was DEFINITELY hired as a swing/Berger understudy, so it would appear that he's replacing Ryan. Which is too bad, because from what I've heard Ryan isn't really all that bad.

I like the new playbill!! Very retro feel to it. It'll be neat to have different playbills from the same production too.
Side note--This is a really insane rediculous question but.... I last saw the show during previews where there was barely any merch...does anyone know if they are selling posters with just the hair symbol or something on them? I checked online and didn't see anything, but was hoping they might sell them at the theatre. I'm going to see the show again on Sunday (yaaaay!) and for my upcoming birthday my parents are going to frame some signed playbills/posters for me. I'm just trying to figure out which ones I should have her frame and if I want to "save a space" in there for Hair....
Thanks in advance!
And I'm counting down the hours until I get to see the production again. It's going to be a loooong week waiting..but at least I have Bye Bye Birdie to hold me over on Saturday afternoon! What a fantastic weekend!

wendilin there are posters on sale. They have the design with Allison reaching her hands up into the air with the words "Let the Sunshine In." Very nice looking. I love all of the new merchandise! It's so bad for my bank account. They now have umbrellas, new shirts, buttons.

speaking of merch... I just got the peace sign tshirt like last week and there is a stain on it. Do you think they would let me exchange it for the same one?

The new Playbill is not very exciting to me. Oh well. I don't really care about what the Playbill looks like, as long as the show is good!

So, I just got back from seeing Hair this weekend and would like share a personal moment I had during the show. The whole scene involving Berger and Sheila before "Easy to be Hard" really mirrored some things that have been going on in my life right now. Caissie Levy's performance of the song really touched me and truly expressed everything that I have been feeling. I have listened to that song millions of times, but seeing it live was extremely powerful and emotional. After the show I thanked Caissie for an absolutely beautiful performance and like an idiot I started crying. She was so sweet about it and gave me a hug :). I just hope now my "Berger" will "want to mend his yellow satin shirt" because I truly love him with all my heart. Thanks for letting vent and share this experience.

Jessica-
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I think we have all had a "Berger" in our lives. I know that I just got out of a tough relationship that also mirrors the way that Berger treated Sheila with the yellow shirt. It's a hard and not fun place to be in. Isn't it amazing how live theatre can just affect you on so many different levels? I'm glad that you found the experience to be so cathartic!

I like the new design, even if it is black and white.

According to Allison's facebook, she'll be back in NYC any day now...anyone hear if she'll be back performing this weekend? That'd be fantastic! Hope that she is all healed and healthy!

I don't know if she's gonna be back in the show, but I know she's performing at the benefit on Monday.

You guys, I don't know if you've ever noticed, but in the song "Frank Mills" in HAIR there is a reference to some guy "of the Beatles." Did you know that they were a band back in the time of HAIR and that their cds are being reissued today!? I think it must be because HAIR has made every body think about that time and now people are in the mood to revisit it. I'm getting the box set so I can hear all their music and think about Frank Mills looking like that one guy from the group.

Namo, which one was your favorite- John or Paul? Or were you a weirdo George fan like Crissy? (No need to mention Ringo. Ew.)
John is totally the Berger to Paul's Claude.

Apparently cast members are performing at the Macy's in Queens Center to kick off Fashion's Night Out tomorrow at 5. Anyone hear anything about this aside from what's on the website?

It was on playbill.com today... Kacie Sheik will be a guest of Morgan Karr's at Joe's Pub for his 11:30 show on October 19th. Jonathan Groff is also going to be a special guest.

hiya i dont think that ryan link is being replaced {he was just woff and was great imo} The producers might have added a Berger understudy. Ryan has only gone on once if I am not mistaken. In reference to his "contract not being renewed" werent they all signed on for a full year? I think he had similiar circumstances with RENT.
