I've heard that Ryan's getting moved to an ensemble track, and he'll still be a Woof cover, but not Berger. No idea if it's true or who he would be replacing.

My husband and I saw the show on Weds night, and although we had a great time we did have one rather large problem with the show.
The orchestra seemed to be very, very, VERY loud. So loud that it frequently overpowered the actors. We missed out on some or all of the lyrics in the following songs : Donna, Colored Spade, Ain't Got No, Electric Blues, White Boys, Walking in Space, 3-5-0-0 (as well as other bits and pieces of the hallucination). There were probably more, but my memory is failing me at the moment...
I was familiar with Hair and most of the songs before seeing the show. I'm young-ish (29) with perfect hearing, and I'm a huge musical theater nerd, so I'm completely comfortable with the format. And I like rock music.
Is the volume of the orchestra a common critique of this production? Were my husband and I sitting in a spot with bad acoustics (orchestra right, row P on the aisle)? Or were we simply not listening hard enough?

I've never had an issue with it....but you could have been there when the sound was off.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I have seen the show a number of times and only on one occasion did I think the band was too loud. I was sitting Orchestra Right row S on the aisle. It might have been the guy at the soundboard or it might have been the acoustics.

circusliz, where you sitting in the rear mezz? The first time I saw the show on opening night, I sat in the last row mezz. I did have a very tough time hearing as well. The other times I've gone (
the sound has been perfect!

"Were my husband and I sitting in a spot with bad acoustics (orchestra right, row P on the aisle)?"
Because the band is on that side of the stage, you tend to hear them more in right orchestra, I always sit in left orchestra where you here the vocals clearer.
" So my money is on Ryan leaving sometime soon. "
agree. Heard it from theatre staff and he's planning weeknight gigs with his band, I don't think he can plan those in advance as an understudy. He was covering Woof on days when Gavin was questionable and Bryce was out, too difficult for Paris to prepare to cover both roles (as awesome and perfect as he is).

How exciting for Allison! Hope this means she is feeling better!

I'm kind of nervous now...my seat is in the right orchestra. I really hope Gavin will be doing matinees soon! I'm seeing the matinee the day before the equality rally so there's still time for him to recover. Obviously I'm more looking forward to the show as a whole, but I hope to see him live!

That's almost a month away. I think he'll be doing all week by then.

Will injured himself during the matinee and Ryan Link went on for act 2. I'm not sure if who will be on as Berger tonight.

I hope Will is okay!

And now Will....jeez oh jeez.

When I saw the show in April I knew the energy level wouldn't be sustainable. I told my friends who hadn't seen it yet to do so. And quick.

He rolled his ankle and fell during the middle of Hair. Limped through the rest of the first act, clearly in pain, and then came out and announced Ryan would be going on for the second act during intermission.

Was at the show tonight. Man, was it GREAT to see Allison Case back! You can tell she was so happy to be back! The new tribe member, Heath.... (can't remember his last name and am too tired to go look at the playbill) ... what a sweetheart! And TALL. Very pretty
At the stage door, he was all, "Did you notice my wig come off during "Hair"? Just joking around and being totally cool. Love him already. Ryan... oh Ryan. Just not a great Berger. Very nice and can sing really well, but just doesn't have the charisma or presence that Will or Steel have. Also, after the show tonight, Gavin was still wearing the boot, so he's probably still laying off the 2 show days for a bit longer as a precaution.
All in all, a very fun night!

Hey Leia, I'm glad you enjoyed the show again. It's so rare that Ryan goes on for Berger. Anyways, according to the Hair twitter page, Bob from the Biggest Loser was at the show tonight as well. He didn't like it so he left at intermission.
