Anyone here going to Brent Comer's (Darrel in ''The Outsiders'' ) show on Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m. at 54 Below in NYC? It's also live-streamed. For tickets:

Okay, let's try this again: who's attending Grayson's Dally debut TONIGHT?
(He had cited Danya Taymor's busy schedule as the reason for his weeklong delay — she has been attending rehearsals for her JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN and he didn't get to spend enough "quality time" with her. All this to say, shouldn't he have been working with Taymor's associate in her absence?)

Yes, the show has a Resident Director/Associate Director, as well as a Choreography Supervisor and two associate choreographers. Those are the people who oversee all replacement rehearsals and put-ins alongside stage management. These people should be able to put new actors into the show without the involvement of the director.
Could be that the team felt he wasn't ready last week and needed another week to prep, and it's convenient to blame Taymor. This show has such an intricate staging, and the original company was a well-oiled machine.

So, what you’re saying is we should expect an announcement in a couple weeks Mandy Patinkin will be replacing Grayson?

I hadn’t seen this for a while so I went to the matinee this afternoon and first, I was shocked Brody was in. I had convinced myself there’s no way he’d be there. A few understudies and cast swaps but everyone was on top of their game. The show is still in A+ condition but the two things that I noticed and wanted to comment on were Brody and Emma. These two specifically have grown so exponentially in their roles, it was like I’d never seen them before. It’s not just acting either, it’s new choices vocally in some songs that make them sound even better and richer than I’ve ever heard - it makes me a bit sad they can’t re-record the cast album now.
And there were a few school groups today and they were just mesmerized and completely invested. I love seeing rows and rows of kids experience theatre like that.

You expressed a bit of sadness that the cast album can't be re-recorded to capture these new interpretations, which speaks to the depth of your appreciation for the evolving artistry of the performers.
Overall, it sounds like a truly enriching experience! Have you seen any other performances recently that stood out to you?

At least if you buy a ticket to this performance, you know he’s gotta show up…

I can already hear the audience obnoxiously screaming / crying / throwing up throughout this perf.

I mean, not necessarily. That’s just when his contract ends. Doesn’t mean he will be there (see: Steve Kazee in Once).

Not necessarily. Someone who was in Phantom was supposed to close out the run of the show a few years ago and- i can't remember the reason- but he had to leave and there was a replacement for the last few weeks.

LOL. I'm aware of the anomalies above, but okay.
Let me rephrase.
He is LIKELY to show up. Better? 🙄

You may be thinking of Ben Crawford. I believe he was having vocal issues.

Steve was out with a pretty serious vocal issue, so it's not the same at all. I consider myself lucky for randomly catching Brody in a week where he was supposed to be back (after taking 3 weeks off) but ended up performing just twice. He REALLY takes the whole life/work balance thing seriously :)

Too bad Brent won’t be there on Brody’s last day.
