If that's "better," I hate to think what the first round of merch was like.

They must be rehearsing a new Columbia this week with Sherie (new Magenta in the show Friday)."

Based on audience members, Larkin Reilly
Based on the official site, no one is playing Columbia LOL

Apparently the associate choreographer, Emily Madigan, had to step in as an emergency cover Phantom this afternoon since the swings were all-skate again.

they only have 5 swings. Larkin is Columbia, Anania is Magenta, and plus 2 other swings were on. Tassy Kirbas also made their Phantom debut this afternoon.

there was alot to like in this production but there was always a messy chaos to it, and the rather sudden departures of two of its featured cast members (one without an immediate replacement, one without ANY replacement, and in general without enough coverage at all) is a bad look.
its selling really well so i look fwd to someone getting this stuff together and returning at some point.

The assistant director looks/seems young and inexperienced. Madigan has experience. She and choreographer Ani Taj are probably running the show with pinkleton rehearsing the new Oh, Mary cast right now?
They need to get more broadway people in the show with experience, like Sherie.

without an announcement of a new Columbia, are the understudies just going to rotate until they hire someone? Or, at this point, just bump up Larkin and hire two more swings?

Is anyone else seeing Sherie’s first performance tonight? I was able to grab a cheap ticket on Theatr and I’m thrilled.

I am! Oddly enough, I was supposed to go to the performance that was cancelled two weeks ago and rebooked for tonight in the same accessible seat so lucky me!

I saw the show last night 6/25. The 15 minute intermission ran long like there was something going on. The second act felt bogged down and some of the dialogue delivery was clunky. Luke Evans gave a very good performance, but even he seemed a little off in act two. I thought the show itself was fine. It felt a bit like a better prepared City Center Encores production. The direction was straight forward with a lot of downstage crosses left to right which felt unoriginal and redundant. The actors at times seemed a little cramped.
I wonder when they were casting, if they offered Zane Phillips, the role of Rocky. Seems it would’ve been the perfect role for him. Does anyone have the scoop?

Intermission. Sherie absolutely knocks “Science Fiction Double Feature” out of the park and is playing Magenta like a Barbie doll about to topple over. She’s wearing Anania’s wig style, but I wish she was wearing Juliette’s.
I’m liking this a lot more than the first time. Larkin Reilly should be promoted to full-time as Columbia. What a presence on stage. Luke Evans remains dynamite (the 3-second delay on that jock is the best performance of the year). The audience is eating it up.

I concur with the previous review. Sherie slid in like she was there the whole time right from the jump. She knows EXACTLY what she’s doing and had great chemistry with Amber, including a fun little comedic riffing after “Planet Hot Dog”. I’m sure Sherie can only get better from here. It makes me think that she could’ve been a fun Janet for the last revival back when.
I also agree with Larkin being absolutely dynamite. She plays it a bit more traditionally than Michaela did but her singing was far more pure and intelligible. While the wasn’t missing Juliette at all, I actually was a little shocked when I didn’t find myself missing MJ since Larkin is comparatively better.
The cast remains on absolute fire and every single time I go, Luke Evans commands the stage like he is having the absolute best time of his life and it’s palpable. Hsu has also upped her game and really sells a role that’s intended to be two dimensional

Curious to see if Larkin gets bumped up to Columbia full-time since there's still no announcement of a replacement?

Honestly, they should.
At this point, it’s not a role that needs a star because people are still showing up in droves regardless. Last night was sold out and a lot of people I talked to were there for Sherie (especially since people missed her in QOV), and she isn’t a big name outside of theatre. It’s already printing money for Roundabout, so they should save the star casting when things start to get shaky, which I don’t foresee for a while unless we get sudden cast departures.
Hell, there’s a world where I foresee Rachel Dratch staying on for the long haul since her role is a comedic meal and a princess track

Saw it Thurs night, so missed Sherie sadly, but concur on Larkin. Great presence. I found her to be more than solid as an understudy but quite wonderful.

There is simply nobody like her. So happy she's back on Broadway where she belongs.

That voice 😍 Can't wait to go back and see her crush it!

Going tonight again with daughter who loves Sherie. Will take son when the cast changes occur - and swings are less present. Thinking this show will only get better as the initial wea inexperienced supporting players begin to vanish to outer space - with solid Broadway experienced talent replacing.
