I was surprised to see they are doing a Broadway album. I only saw the show last week so I don't now a lot about the show's history. Were there a lot of changes since London?

So happy for them! It's such a nice little show and glad they're having such a great run so far!

Yes, several of the songs were rewritten and sound very different. I only saw the Broadway version, went looking for some of the songs afterward, and was surprised by how different they were.
For instance:
What'll It Be UK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_un8CgzVUY
vs
What'll It Be US
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wANvTyE-1SA
Also the UK "This Year" is slower and a bit more more melancholy than the US version, where the lyric and tempo changes make it sound much more forceful and...triumphant?

Saw the show over the weekend and found it to be very middle of the road in all ways.
The cast is more than competent, elevating the material they have to the best of their abilities. But I think they are both let down by rather poor writing. He fares a bit better because his arc is more clear than hers. Pitts is very likable, though at least this weekend her voice did not soar quite as much as the music needed it to. Tutty is charming and funny and energetic, though at times I felt very much like I was watching his Dear Evan Hansen performance.
The score is a mixed bag. The opening number, act one finale, and last song are the highlights. The rest I could really take or leave. All of her solos are rather dirge-like and bring the show to a screeching halt. The rap song about Tinder should have been cut.
The book is largely fun, though act one lacks any dramatic tension or obstacle, and act 2 then turns too emotional and I don't think sticks the landing at all because it tonally is far too different from act 1 to even feel like the same show.
There's no world to me in which this show earns its 2hr, 2 act run time. There is enough fluff that could have been trimmed or excised to make this a brisk 90 minutes.
The set is fine, I like the concept of it, though it looks rather cheap and ultimately I don't think the set being piles of suitcases makes much sense when only one of the characters is a traveler and he canonically has one small suitcase. But there is an attempt at style. I think it would have looked better if the band was not visible behind it.
I had further issues with the character writing, storyline, and ultimately end goal of the piece but I won't go into all of that. In a stronger season, I think this show would fall by the wayside almost entirely. In this season, it sticks out because it's the one wholly original musical. But for my money, Maybe Happy Ending does the small-cast musical/buddy comedy/rom-com 10x better.

Strongly disagree. Found the entire thing to be absolutely wonderful. And every show does not need to be “a brisk 90 minutes”.

Didn't say every show needed to be a brisk 90 minutes. Said I thought this should could be.

Jana Larell Glover will be making her Robin debut this Tuesday, March 3, and will also play the role on the 4th.

I was lucky enough to see Jana during her time at Six. She's immensely talented and I'm jealous of anyone who gets to see her debut

I thought this was just delightful. It reminded me of The Band's Visit with the theme of how one fateful experience can impact a person's entire life. The set made of luggage was really clever, Sam and Christiani are both wonderful

Bumping for those who want to discuss the show since the other thread was apparently deleted. And this should have been the thread to post on, regardless.

I'll repeat what I said in the prior thread - I do agree that it feels more like an off-broadway show - but I did genuinely enjoy it. I finally got around to seeing outsiders on my last trip (cause it was on TKTS) and I liked Two Strangers 10 times better! I also enjoyed it better than Mincemeat but I was in a grumpy mood because virtually the entire "original cast" was out the night I saw it and that's why I went to see it - before the originals left
Anyways... the show has a great cast with some fun twists and turns in the storytelling but it does get a little repetitive. Very clever set design.

I agree. I loved this show. I found that it had so much heart, found the songs catchy enough and adored this cast. But I do remember thinking "this feels like the best off-Broadway show you can see" and would probably be better if they trimmed it more to be a one-act show.
Granted, I sat in the front center, so it felt intimate which this show is perfect for. Not sure how it would have registered if I were to watch in the balcony of the Longacre.
But don't get me wrong. I loved this show and recommend it to anyone even remotely curious about it. It felt more like a real "love letter to NY" than New York New York did.

What a great comment, I completely agree. It is a much more superior production with much less money. But the romantic story, the chemistry, and not have 394384380 storylines also helps!

Seating question:
I am debating between $99 rear side orch seats (rows O & P seats 9-21) or $88 center mezz row G. Which do you think are better? Thanks in advance.

I see that discount code TSBOX109 on Telecharge works for an $89 price (midweek) for Mezz A14 which is the seat I'd choose as you'd have no heads blocking your view. I prefer the left side vs right at the Longacre.

Thank you! It's a weekend matinee, so that code doesn't apply, but noted re: left vs. right.

Just a funny but totally random musing. Sam seems to be taking in all the shows while he’s here and does it when he either has a day off or the show is dark. I saw him at the matinee of THE OUTSIDERS today and he’s such a sweetheart.

If they have the front row mezzanine seats on the far right or left aisle (labeled partial view), go for those. With the TSFAN discount code, it generally comes to $79 per ticket, and here’s a helpful hint. The view is not obstructed at all. Not one bit. You can see everything perfectly. It’s the best kept secret…..well…..not anymore.

Does this extend to the partial view seats in row B as well? There are two together. I could also do row A 21 (PV) and A 19 (non PV)? Thanks so much for all the helpful replies.

Second row is okay but those seats extend a little further toward the wall, so you will miss a little action (not much) on the far side of the stage. Front row is ideal. I’ve sat in both.
