I don't think Hamilton will break the wins record, since Philippa Soo most likely will not win her category, and if she loses, they have to win every other category to tie the record.
On reflection, I realized Annaleigh Ashford's brilliant performance in SYLVIA was not recognized. Such a crowded field this year in most categories. Maybe someday the Tonys committee will broaden the number when necessary, as did the Oscars.
Happy that Megan Hilty and David Furr, so funny in NOISES OFF, were recognized.

American Psycho being shut out in favor of Bright Star is frankly, disturbing.

Have you ever made a post here that isn't obnoxiously tone-policing someone else's post?
yes. plenty. you probably just don't read enough of threads on here. and why should i be scolded for voicing my concern about another person's reaction? we have to look out for each other.
I think, overall, that it is a very good list of nominees. I was part of the group that thought Audra McDonald may actually miss out and she did...it was just a tough category this year.
The snubs I'm more upset about are Nicola Walker in Lead Actress and Lydia Wilson for Featured Actress. They both should have been nominated.
I am overall very happy with the list. I think the only categories that Hamilton lose out on are both Leading actor and actress. As far as snub I'm a little shocked (but have no opinion, I havent seen it) that Benjamin Walker was beat out by Levi. I'm also sad that Krysta Rodriguez was overlooked for her performance in Spring Awakening as well. It would have been a nice ode to the production. Also. wow its been ages since ive posted and its good to be back!

"I am sorry but it is an unjust world and virtue is only triumphant in theatricle performances" The Mikado
I don't think Hamilton will win set design or lead actress, so in addition to the fact that the male actors most likely won't tie, I don't see it breaking the record for wins.
I don't think anyone wants or expects Hamilton to win all its nominated for. Breaking the record for nominees is enough (and it IS deserving of it, we might forget that in all the hype and the snubs, but this is truly an excellent piece of work and is much better than Billy Elliot and The Producers).
If overall excellence in the theater was what was being rewarded and if the ultimate success in the theater is the art of collaboration - then Hamilton would sweep. But if each individual contribution is being isolated in some sort of stack ranking against what a voter considers a good looking set or effective lighting or pretty costumes (without reference to the play or production) then Hamilton will not do well in many categories. How many years have we seen unsuccessful plays or musicals win technical awards? Considering how superior Hamilton is to rest of the field this year I am hoping a sweep mentality prevails.

I think it says a lot about the strength of all the other shows and performances. This has been an incredible season. Any other year each of the shows would rack up a ton of wins but this season it's gonna be tough with them competing against each other
(In the 70s they re-added added best book, and added best orchestrations and best lighting)
If anyone has additions or corrections to this would love the feedback!
It is crazy super rare to get nominated in all four acting categories, which knocks most of the heavily nominated shows out, or they miss a nomination in scenic design (like Chorus Line) or lighting.
Hamilton may also hold the record for most nominated actors (7) ive seen several shows that had six but do not recall any with seven.....
I love Tony nomination day and the official start of the Tony Season, and love seeing shows during the nomination period....
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
If Groff were to win, would it be the first time an actor won for a role that had already been taken over by another actor? I know people have won for shows that have already closed.
If Groff wins an award for that role I'll be gobsmacked. He's on stage for like 10mins. And I don't think they are even a quality 10mins.
And Walker not being nominated, but they gave it to Levi/Brightman?! Come on. Nolan from Bright Star would have been a much better choice too. Levi can't even handle the notes in She Loves Me.
Who is on the nominating committee? These all seem like such safe choices.
At least them remembered Therese for it's scenic design. And Psycho.
It always is what it is and nobody should expect the Tony nominators to always see things your way. But like some others posting here, I'm surprised and disappointed that Nicola Walker wasn't nominated.

Right, I'm aware of that. My understanding of the original post was that Hamilton, along with the other shows mentioned, was nominated for every category that a new musical could be nominated for.
