I love Harris and McBreyer, but Supporing Actor in a Comedy has got to go to Tracy Morgan. He was side-splittingly funny this season.
I'm just happy that Michael Emerson got nominated again. He's giving the most understatedly amazing performance on television.
I'm really happy to see United States of Tara got some nominations..
Also - I will be crossing my fingers for a much deserved NPH win now that Piven is out this year.

It got a directing nomination, I believe. I could swear I saw it listed somewhere.
Talk about shunning Ugly Betty...but with no Piven, will Neil finally win?

To the poster who said Mary Louise Parker should win for Weeds, she already did. It was in a year that Housewives had like 4 of the nominations, and Parker won. It was very cool.

No, unfortunately MLP has never won an Emmy for Weeds.
A lot of these nominations made me smile (Cheno, Krakowski, Parker, Silverman, HIMYM finally getting a nod, etc.) but I have to say nothing made me happier than seeing Aaron Paul in the supporting actor category. He was so good this year on Breaking Bad and turned a thin portrait of a drug addict into this tragic, rich, relatable character. Oooh, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Glad she finally got nominated for an Emmy, after being snubbed years ago for her role on 24 (and for the even bigger snub at the Oscars years back).
Technical director for the Tony Awards? I guess the technical director wasn't responsible for the sound issues?
Dr. Horrible is nominated for "short format-live" webisode sort of category.

That was a Golden Globe :)
Yeah the Golden Globes seem much more ready to award new talent/people on newer/riskier shows. Academy Award Winner Anna Paquin just WON the Golden Globe for Best Actress for True Blood (and yet is not even nominated for an Emmy...wow) this past ceremony. And in years past, MLP won for Weeds and Jennifer Garner won for Alias. It's the one thing I love about the Golden Globes - they are more prone to take a chance on talented people in non-traditional shows.
Yes, Mary-Louise Parker beat all the desperate housewives the year WEEDS came out. She has an Emmy but it's for ANGELS IN AMERICA, not WEEDS.
I'm still annoyed she lost to Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Parker was pure comic brilliance on the first season of WEEDS (the show's best season, IMO), and I don't think Louis-Dreyfus' (whom I generally like) came anywhere near Parker.
America Ferrara won the following year for her hyped performance in UGLY BETTY, a performance that I think has become sort of gimmicky and monotonous at this point.
Last year she lost to Tina Fey. I hope this is her year.
"I hope that Drew and Jessica SHARE the Best Actress in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie category. A fully apropo tie is merited."
BrodyFosse123, if only Lange's ego had accepted the supporting category instead of going head to head with Barrymore in lead, they both could've gone home with Emmys.
Ray, you're actually right. I seem to remember MLP even thanking her newborn son for her own pair of "Golden Globes". I guess I just assumed she had won for both. But yeah - her Harper was pretty dang incredible.
I agree, her performance in ANGELS IN AMERICA is probably one of my favorite screen performances that I've seen. So layered, so complex, so funny, so haunting and so tragic. I think she should have won for the first season of WEEDS landslide, one of the few times when the Golden Globes get it right.
Go, Kristin Chenoweth! If ABC isn't banging its head against a wall for letting go of Pushing Daisies (with 5 noms), they really are just idiots. R.I.P. Daisies
It is last years Tonys that are nominated, correct? This years should be under Outstanding Comedy.
Hooray for Neil Patrick Harris, and Dr. Horrible - the best thing not on TV.
Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson are long overdue, imho.
As much as I love Tony Shalhoub, Monk jumped the shark when "Sharona" left. Stop nominating him.
Congrat's to Breaking Bad, excellent writing and acting.
Actually, it IS the *2008* Tony Awards that are nominated and NOT the tragic one that aired this past summer. The cut-off date for the Emmys is May 31. So any nods the TONYS got this year at the Emmys, it was the WhoopiGoldberg-hosted Cry-Baby/In The Heights/Passing Strange/Xanadu/Grease/Gypsy/South Pacific/Sunday in the Park with George year.
Yup, 2008 Tonys up for the awards - didn't think of that right away, and was soooo confused by the technical nomination.
I didn't see a listing for Individual Performance in Variety/Music Special, did they not do that category this year?
Yeah, the individual performance category was ended, and the performances will just be nominated with their show.

I was really upset to see that the Individual Performance in Variety/Music Special was dismissed....was it because there's no has been-come back concert this year to steal the award away from Colbert?
You know what my favorite category is? The Best Song category. Timberlake, Colbert, Conchords? Who will win?

Earlier this year, the EMMYs people announced that there will no longer be an Individual Performance award in a Variety/Music/Comedy Specials Program. Instead the host will share the award for the show, if it wins.
This year's nominees are --
Outstanding Special Class Programs
*81st Annual Academy Awards · ABC · Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
*Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony · NBC · NBC Olympics
*Carnegie Hall Opening Night 2008: A Celebration of Leonard Bernstein (Great Performances) · PBS · A Production of Carnegie Hall and Thirteen/WNET New York in association with San Francisco Symphony
*George Carlin: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize · PBS · A production of WETA Washington, D.C.; The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; Mark Krantz Productions and CoMedia.
*The 62nd Annual Tony Awards · CBS · White Cherry Entertainment in association with Tony Award Productions
Hugh Jackman hosted the Oscars for this year's nominee while it is the Whoopi Goldberg-hosted 2008 show which made the nominations ( cutoff is May 31).
But the Beijing Olympics coverage may be the dark horse winner. Four years ago, the Greek Olympics coverage won the EMMY. However, I find it ironic that all NBC does for this show is just to cover it. It has nothing to do with the contents at all. Although being nominated for quite a number of categories including Music & Lyrics ( for the HJ Opening Number), Writing, Art Direction, Direction, Choreography ( Musicals are Back), Sound, etc., this year's OSCARS show may have a good chance, too.
