Jordsy? That kind of sounds like the name of a kid in special ed from a 1970s after school special.
#9 People who let what other, anonymous posters say upset them.
It's a public forum made up of all kinds of people and opinions. You simply shouldn't take personal differences (or differences of any kind) to heart.
If you feel a meltdown coming on, or find that reading a thread raises your blood pressure, remember: it's only a message board.
I admit there are posters who I find annoyng. And I'm sure there are many posters who find me annoying.
My philosophy is to accept them for who they are and set my expectations of their comments accordingly.
But getting so pissed that I let something said on here ruin my day?*
That's just silly, IMHO.
And then of course #10: people with no sense of humor.
*The exception of course are discussions about outside news stories. For example, the CFA threads on the OT boards are very distressing. But not because of what members post, but becasue the subject itself is so unpleasant.
Just saw this wonderful thread. Is a lot better than the rest of my day. Please let me add:
People who love failure.
And my favorite. People who give their opinions about shows which they have not seen.

No thanks, no updates:
"I'm going to NY. What shows/restaurants/hotels would you recommend?" "Could anyone suggest a song about spring for my sister's wedding?" "Could somone post the song list for Leap of Faith?"
Some kind-hearted souls here invariably offer their suggestions, share their knowledge. This kind-hearted soul dutifully typed up the song lists to Spider-man and Leap of Faith, after just having suffered through both.
And in return? Zilch. No thank you, no follow-ups. Well, what song did you choose, and how did it go? And while we're at it, how was the wedding? How were the shows, restaurants, and hotels, that people recommended to you? And what of the time people took to type up those long lists for you?
That doesn't a merit a thank you?
Apparently not.
It's all about me, me, me, isn't it?
Well, what about the person(s) who did you a favor?
.......... Who?
Oh my! I agree with After Eight!
Sadly, I see that on the other boards I visit, and I see it in life, as well. Everyone thinkks they are at the top of everyone's importance list.

Do your own research.
"Can somebody tell me how many Tony Awards The Girl Who Came to Supper won?" Who were the stars of The Moon Is Blue?" "Who sings opposite Ethel Merman in her third recording of Annie Get Your Gun?"
For heaven's sake, don't be so lazy! All of these answers are available on line. Why expect others to do your work for you, if it's at your fingertips?
One of the eminence grises on this board asked a question that could have been answered by searching on line, and more recently, told us that he vowed never to do any research on this board. Well, fine and dandy. Then don't ask us any questions.
What ever happened to the notion of self-reliance?

Oooh I love TRIVIA!
The Moon is Blue starred Barbara Bel Geddes and Donald Cook
The Girl Who Came To Supper won 1 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical ~ Tessie O'Shea
From what I've researched their really was no third "recording" of Annie Get Your Gun, the third RELEASE I know of which includes Ethel Merman is a repackaging of the original Broadway cast so my answer as to who sang opposite Ethel is Ray Middleton. But I could be wrong.
Honestly, if you have to go somewhere to ask people you don't know to justify you spending $400, you probably shouldn't be spending that much money on something. I know it is cheap for some things by today's standards, but you still should be absolutely sure about spending it.

Yes. Do more research.
Her third recording was a 1973 studio cast recording.
Neilson Taylor specifically sang opposite her. There is an audio-only video on Youtube of him singing a Frank song.
Right?

AfterEight - IMO, this is the best post of the thread.
@ Wynbish. Cool. I hadn't come across that one. That could be it. Great find!

I hesitate to assume you are referring to me, After Eight, because although I'll admit to being grey, I don't claim any eminence. But I believe that was my remark about vowing not to research.
I meant non-computer research that requires a trip to the library or combing through boxes in the garage (where it's often over 100 degrees here in the desert). Of course, I refer to IBDB, Amazon, Wiki, and the like all the time.
My point was that I consider these casual conversations and I often post from memory, rather than fact-checking as I would for an article published in a scholarly journal. If I did the latter here, I'd have no time to do nothing else with my life. I don't demand that you or anyone else do more.
So, yes, I appreciate being corrected when my memory fails. And I agree with you that a "thank you" is appropriate in such cases. On the other hand, no one is required to inform me and I doubt I've ever suggested otherwise.
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I can look up Ethel Merman's Broadway appearances of the 1930s and have done so.

I don't really understand why someone asking a question is so annoying.
Surely no one can require anyone to reply.

Class clowns.
And crass clowns, as well. We thought we had said goodbye and good riddance to this particular species upon leaving our high school days behind us.
Well, surprise, surprise, here they are again, older, but certainly no wiser. Obnoxious, boorish, (and proud of being both), completely unaware of where to draw the line, and, unbeknownst to themselves, staggeringly unfunny, they fancy themselves the height of wit, while being strictly the bottom of the barrel.
There's that saying "they're more to be pitied than condemned." Well, in their case, they're both to be pitied and condemned.
And let's not forget those, as in high school, who egg them on with squeals of
delight, so that the clowns will make even greater fools of themselves. They're just as bad, if not worse.

Interesting posts.
I'm not a fan of posters that state their opinions of shows as if they are indisputable facts. I think that one gets me more than anything else someone can do. However, I'm not delusional enough to think that one is ever going to change!
And this shouldn't be a big deal, but something that has always annoyed me are posts that start with "am I the only one that ____?" I have to restrain myself EVERY time from posting something along the lines of "Yes, you are the only one on this freakin' planet that _______." I know it shouldn't bother me, but....
How delightful to notice fragments of oneself in the description of offender number three!11!!!1!!2
I up the ante every time it is hinted that it's best I hush. Oh, it's not a childish act of revenge for saying something that probably doesn't even involve me.
It's an excuse, a green light, to babble about the same things well into the distant future, as much as humanly possible!!! XD
You left out Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves.
The poster who never seems to make a post other than one to snidely put down another's post. It's like they lie in waiting to pounce. Otherwise you never hear from them. I have one particular person in mind. Grrrr!
^ Or the ones who "magically" sign up to defend someone who had been acting like an asshat and tells everyone not to make fun of them or thinks their stupidity is okay.
Similarly there's people who only posts never go any farther than "lol" or "I agree" or "yes".
Totally.
