Nope.  The character is being added for the film adaptation.  Miranda states it’s a small but pivotal role.

one of my friends is going to be an extra in the movie. he will be in the club scene. they will film it next week. he told me that the wardrobe will be modern day club. and that the club will look similar to the club in the havana music video by camila cabello

Does anyone think Corey Hawkins looks a little too old to be opposite Leslie Grace? My pick was Jordan Fisher for Benny as I think the two would look much better as a pair, but i think Corey will do great

he is 30 and she is 24. i think they look great

They'll be filming something this week down on 21st St in Chelsea (saw the notices posted while walking home from Trader Joe's, but didn't really pay attention to the specific dates)

they shot the club scene for two days. my friend was an extra in this scene. he told me that the choreography is extremely difficult and flashy. he said that it is on another level. the broadway show choreography can’t compare. he also told me that they made changes. usnavi will be a good dancer instead of a goofy dancer. they took out the fight part. and they cut out usnavi and benny’s dance part.

Camila has not been cut. The role is still being cast and the actress could literally be confirmed 72 hours before she’s due on set. This is normal and many Oscar winning roles were cast 48 hours prior to them filming their first scene.

That makes more sense than that they'd cut her role entirely, I think. Sometimes roles are just hard to cast, even/especially if they are important– I know for one, Caitríona Balfe, who's literally the lead of the tv show Outlander, was cast just days before filming began.

Majority of the cast was set back in January. There's a strategy in waiting to announce things over time. Keeps the excitement building.

yup. And I just lost interest.

The man is talented as hell but, for me, his acting is the least of them. JMO

Are any of you even familiar with IN THE HEIGHTS?  The role is simply an extended cameo as it appears throughout the show but has no relevancy to the plot.  Heck, the character doesn’t even have a name.

So why are you even bringing up Lin’s acting regarding a cameo role that anyone with a personality can do?  Your assessment would be applicable if he were playing Kevin or Benny.

Why not?   He is wooden and always, always , self aware.     It takes half a second on film to have a bad distraction.  Yuck.  And by the way.... the Piraguero is a staple in many of the communities represented in In The Heights.  This is not a throwaway role.

Dame, relax and take a deep breath...and quit being such a snob. It's nothing more than a cameo appearance. Fans want to see him in the movie, so give it a rest.
