Almost every time Kail walks out of the stage door at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, he's greeted by eager, wide-eyed fans who want to tell him just how hilarious he is. "Everybody thinks I'm Robin De Jesus," Kail says of the young actor he cast as Sonny. The director's attempts to set the record straight—"I'm not really who you think I am"—are usually ignored and countered with, "But you're so funny in the show!" By now Kail has accepted this case of mistaken identity and occasionally signs autographs as De Jesus, cheerily admonishing the kids he meets to "stay in school."

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

Testing, you're lucky you had cool people next to you at stagedoor. I saw the 39 steps last night, but then met up with my friends after who saw in the heights, I got the most obnoxious group of teenagers, I assume from out of town, who were obsessed with Robin - oh excuse me - they were obsessed with Sonny.
From the moment he walked out of the stage door, and I quote, "omg, is that sonny? that is sonny! Omg we need to get a picture with him, omg if i dont get a picture with sonny I might kill myself. Sonny!!" then when he gets to them "Omg sonny can we get a pictures with you?" "Sonny, were you in camp?!" "yes" "OMG! I need a picture with you omg you're my idol." It was pretty awful.
and they were also rude, when my friend asked andrea for a picture they tried to cut in front of her and take one first. not cool, guys.

Oh, I didnt get into the ones to the LEFT of me !!! The ones to the right of me were the nice ones !!! LOL
There was a family next to me with 3 kids, and they didnt have a pen/marker--- They were making the cast sign the drink cups AND their CDs AND playbills.
They decided to use my marker, which I never have a problem sharing with anyone-- well, the only problem was that they were making them sign so many items (not to mention, passing the marker around to everyone), that whenever someone else came out of the stagedoor, I didnt have my marker anymore !!!
They were calling the cast by their stage names and/or "hey".
Yes, they were calling people "hey" !!!
Lin came out really late last night (think he had family there), and after I was done, they asked for the marker again--
It was so late already, and I really needed to get SOME sleep.
Well, after they were done, they never said "thank you" -- Their mom didnt either!!)
Testing, Wow I can't believe how rude those people were at the stagedoor. I guess they don't have "stagedoor etiquette". I have seen the show 3 times and love it more each time I see it. I have not attempted to stagedoor yet as each time I have seen the show it rained. I am going back on June 19th so hopefully this will be a nice night and we can finally meet the cast and tell them all how wonderful they are.
By the way, I think you are very kind to lend your markers to everyone for use. They really should have thanked you!
Thanks, Lucy !!! Yeah.. there have been occasions where I decided to stage at the last minute and didnt have a marker, so I always appreciate someone willing to help.

Saw it for the first time tonight, as well. 2nd row center. My partner and I loved every minute of it! Incredibly talented and energetic cast! Would like to see it again from a little further back. But no complaints. I hope it sweeps the Tonys!
I'm going to the NYTimes thing on the 9th, anyone else? I will probably be at the signing as well. Yay for ITH and publicity! (even if it means that lotto is becoming wicked X2)

I finally saw In the Heights a couple of nights ago and just loved it. The score, especially, is so impressive. I can't get over the overlapping parts of "96,000," and "Fireworks" is one of the most thrilling act I closers I've seen in a long time. I'd totally admire the eclectic nature of the score anyway, but I love knowing that so much care was taken to use specific styles of music for each character.
Definitely a great night at the theater, and it's easy to see where all the Tony recognition comes from. The one thing that I sort of regret is that I think I would have preferred to have seen Karen as Vanessa rather than Krysta.
Thanks testing. I've wanted to see it. I just have crappy lotto luck. But not last night. It was awesome!
The funniest part was at the stage door when I met Priscilla Lopaz. I've loved her since my parents gave my the cast resording for A Chorus Line (I think we were maybe going to tap to "One" or something in dance class...didn't happen, but...) ~ until they heard "Dance Ten, Looks Three" and took it away. She asked if they ever gave it back and I said yeah, finally. She said her brother ("My own brother!") wouldn't let his children listen to it because she said "bull----". She laughed and said "I told him 'That's bull----!'" VERY funny. :) They were all really nice though, which was awesome!

jordangirl, where you in seat...103, I guess? I was about 2 seats over from you and thought I recognized you from the Saved lotto, but I wasn't sure and didn't want to creep you out if you weren't.
"My muffin top is all that/whole grain and low-fat/I know you want a piece of that/But I just wanna dance!"
Oh hey! I was in 108. Pretty much right in the middle. :) And hey...it's cool. I'd probably look less panicked in the theatre than when people (usually guys) come right up to me on the street or in a bodega wanting money. Go ahead and say Hi next time. :)

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
Full cast at today's matinee- glad to see and hear Karen back!
Something new at today's show that I've actually never encountered at Heights before- pockets of the audience feeling the need to snap along during When the Sun Goes Down? Which actually wouldn't have been annoying, except for the folks who could *not* find the beat!! People, if you can not find the beat, do not snap- that is today's psa.
I may have stopped by the stage door after the show, to get my cast recording signed, since I can't make Virgin on the 5th. How much do I love certain cast members who still get *so excited* seeing their own cd at the stage door? I love this cast.
