Posted: 6/13/10 at 8:51pmThis greatly increases Molina's chances of winning best actor. It's definitely a lock now for best play. I guess sitting through 90 minutes of pretentious dialog that leaves you feeling as though you've now been baptized in the "artistic" world qualifies as what should win for best play. I doubt half of the theater goers who see this actually comprehend anything much about the show.

Posted: 6/13/10 at 8:53pmI saw Red and very much enjoy it, and I like to think that I am not pretentious. It wasn't exactly a hard show to understand...I've had harder times understanding other shows.

Posted: 6/13/10 at 8:54pmI like this way of introducing the plays, I feel as though I understand more about them than I did when they showed clips.

Posted: 6/13/10 at 8:54pmI wanted to see NEXT FALL before, but now after that Tony presentation, I REALLY REALLY am motivated to go and buy a ticket!

Marianne-
there were some excellent performances last year with much smaller venues than RCMH normally.
the whole show is just not on...people are not ON. are they missing ques?
but...I think Sean is excellent.

Posted: 6/13/10 at 8:58pmNice change in the presentation of the plays. I loved the summaries from the stars. Would've been even better with perhaps some clips playing in the background.

I actually agree the presentation for NEXT FALL made me want to see it, and I had no interest before.
Terry Johnson, yeah, he deserves it. But I was hoping for Bill T. Jones. I see him like Michael Mayer, without whom their respective productions wouldn't even exist. Oh well.. I don't see anything stopping LA CAGE, RED, and MEMPHIS from taking the big prizes now...
