As someone who loves Fela, I'll still jump on the horrendous performance bandwagon. Whaaaat where they thinking? And what did Saycon believe she was lipsyncing to?
Highlight so far: Kelsey Grammer's wife ROCKING OUT to Green Day.
I also like the Hayes/Chenoweth grotesquerie. Comments, Setoodeh?
And Sean Hayes actually very funny. Looks like highlights won't be from the performances tonight!

All the bitching about Green Day is so silly
Their music is in a new show by them, the Tony's are thinking about the ratings and having Green Day on is a good move, they need to have people like Green Day and the Glee cast on to keep something like the Tony Awards on the air, if ratings stay bad for the Tony's hey could easily pull it, they did here in the UK with the Olivier Awards.
Plus Green Day rocked

Posted: 6/13/10 at 8:33pmI sat through an hour and a half of MDQ with Hunter spitting on me in the beginning and I can't figure out how it was nominated over Sondheim.

Yeah, American Idiot got a performance & then Green Day got TWO more. At least when Poison played last year it was short, sweet, & Bret got cracked by a set piece. ENTERTAINING!
Congrats to Eddie.

I think Scarlet's win was more of a "welcome to the club" kind of thing. Hollywood star braves the Broadway stage and makes good and all that. I saw the show in January and though she did fine but nothing remarkable.
Jan Maxweel gets screwed again.

Posted: 6/13/10 at 8:39pmI agree ljay. Any thoughts of seeing this are now out the window. I usually only see all the non-revivals and pick a few play and musical revivals to see each year, but I don't need to sit through this one.
