After Morgan James did what she to "Turn Back O Man" in Godspell every night she should be ashamed.
I don't work in any aspect of the theater and have no aspiration to. I feel comfortable saying whatever I want about a show or performer. She should learn to save her criticism for private conversations.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
Who IS this Morgan James character? She's tweeting about a bumpy first preview of a Sondheim-Lapine musical with Donna Murphy, Chip Zien, Dennis O'Hare, and Amy Adams when all she has on her Broadway resume is a mediocre musical, a bad musical and a bad revival of a mediocre musical?
Agreed Wynbish! We all know Murphy is going to be fantastic, but I really want to hear about Adams!!
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
And she's right. She doesn't have to like everything. And she had ever right to post her tweet. But it was a little tacky. There were rumors of trouble and clearly some people are out hoping for blood, so there you go.
Well, considering that she SHOULD know that her colleagues may read her tweets, the woman strikes me as rather dumb. I don't like to use that term, but when the shoe fits...
Added to that her subsequent tweet (god I hate that word)...come on! This is your profession, lady! Do you really want to piss so many people off so early into your career?
Yes...they say all "press" is good press if it gets your name out there, but I personally never want to see this actress because of her lack of professionalism and..well...class.
RE: Scott...AWKWARDDDDD..wonder if they'll work together again.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Well, Hunter Foster had a point. I mean, it was a little too "Hollywood" that year at the Tony Awards. He shouldn't have started a Facebook petition, but he wasn't wrong. What Ms. James Tweeted about was wrong. It's a first preview of a big musical in an outdoor theater. Did things get any better after the first preview of WONDERLAND?
This feels ripped from the story boards of Gossip Girl. She made a stupid mistake and instead of arguing about her right to tweet whatever she wants she should apologize and stop tweeting for a few weeks.

I cannot wait for a review. Super intrigued to hear about Amy Adams, and also the chemistry between Adams and O' Hare. I'm sure they're both fab though. The set looks GORGEOUS.
