neon, I am pretty sure matineeidol2591 meant that Lexi was obvious and not very nuanced in her acting choices. I've heard from some friends who've seen her that her singing is fantastic, but her acting in particularly emotional scenes isn't that refined or deep.
Good morning! I thought Brandon Victor Dixon did a great job in his first performance as Burr. Some specifics from last night:
His voice is lighter than Leslie's. I thought it was lovely. My husband felt like his "Wait for It" didn't have quite enough power, although we both felt his "Room Where It Happens" was fantastic. "Dear Theodosia" was perfect. After the duel, he seemed emotionally spent. I wasn't close enough to tell if he was crying, but it sure felt like it to me.
He plays a bit looser than Leslie. Where I felt that Leslie's Burr was tightly wound, Brandon's Burr was more open.
For the first half of the first act, almost all of the vocals were behind the music. At first I though it was because he was unsure of himself, but it was like that up through "Meet Me Inside" and it didn't seem to matter if he was singing or not, so I don't know what was going on.
Someone had asked about Lexi as well. Her voice is beautiful. Superficial problem: I don't like the way her hair/wig is styled. It wasn't flattering and it bothered me. As to her acting, I thought she was mostly fine. My son and I disagreed about her scream when Philip died and her gasp at the end. I found her scream to be unconvincing, but her gasp was fine. My son felt the opposite. Her "Burn" didn't have the anger I was expecting, more like disappointment. Stylistic choice or acting limitation? Who knows.
Seth Stewart was a very enjoyable Lafayette/Jefferson, but I did miss Daveed's hair.
Brandon came out at stage door and was very sweet about signing things and taking pictures.
Thats it, I think. Aaron Burr is in good hands (which I think we all knew, anyway). I'd love to hear from someone in a few weeks when he's had time to settle into the role.
Per his Facebook, Gerald Avery is back with the show until Halloween. He's appearing as an ensemble member this time, so someone is temporarily away from the show.
I was also at the show last night (after waiting on the cancellation line for 17 hours), and I thought Brandon's performance was spectacular! This was my fourth time seeing the show, saw Leslie twice and austin once. I never thought I would say this but I liked Brandon the most. his vocals we outstanding, he put his own spin on the songs, and I was left with a wow after every song. His whole performance felt very original, and different from both Leslie and austin. It honestly couldn't believe that it was brandon first time in the role, he completely owned it and it felt like he has been doing it for months.
To be honest I was not a big fan of seth as lafayette/Jefferson, his acting was good but I thought his guns snd ships, and what'd I miss was underwhelming. I saw Andrew Chappelle last time and though he was fantastic, i actually think he should take over the role permanently.
All in all the show was fantastic last night, and I am so happy with the new burr, it really is in good hands.
I apologize if I missed this somewhere but is Seth Stewart the official new Lafayette/Jefferson? Or is he still understudying until they find a permanent one?

I over shot that wait lol. I thought since it was Brandon's first show people would get there earlier and there would be less tickets. however someone who got there two hours before got in. Better to be early then late (plus I had a great seat).

"Andrew and seth are still switching. Andrew posted that he will be on Thursday through Saturday.

This seems to agree with Dixon's answers in this interview...
Superficially at least, your voice and Leslie’s seem to have a lot of similarities. Generally speaking, we do. I actually think Leslie’s voice might be slightly lower than mine, but it’s possible he’s been using that part of his voice more regularly.
What’s your favorite Burr number to do, and what do you find most challenging? The answer to both is “Wait for It.” That’s my favorite, the one I listen to the most, but I also realized it’s lower than I thought. I've had to recalibrate how I approach it.
So is there still no official new Laf/Jeff? I'm seeing it for my third time (first since the OBC cast left) at the end of October. I'm hoping everything will be settled by then
So according to a Hamilton fan account, Anthony Ramos took Hamilton out of his bio on Twitter and, when asked about it at the stage door, said that it's because him and Jasmine Cephas Jones are leaving the show sometime in August. Obviously it might not be true, but I would be really sad if it was.

Is this plausible, given that there's just a week left in August and no announcement to this effect has been made elsewhere?
I was told there will be some cast members leaving around Labor Day by a friend who works with the show. I know Sasha Hutchings is leaving soon, as she'll be playing Ursula in Sweet Charity (her replacement is a former dancer from On Your Feet).
People leave. They grow, move on, and amaze us in new ways. It's the nature of the beast that is theater. Go listen to One Last Time and pay attention to the lyrics. The show will outlive it's original cast. It's a sign that it's strong. Most of the cast members of Hamilton will never be in a position like this again...their names are out there and it's time to embrace the opportunities that come from being in a high profile show.
Theater fans are a fickle bunch...we'd be complaining if people stayed in the show too long.
