Hey, if the producers can afford to hemorrhage money, and want to, I say let it keep running so the cast/crew can at least make a salary. The Circle in the Square may be a "wasted venue" right now, but...
I have obviously lampooned the producers aplenty, but I don't see this as an act of desperation: as long as the show continues to run, it is no more desperate to do things to sell tickets to this than to Hamilton.
I mean, it's mildly clever? I just think this is the kind of thing they should have been doing early on. I'm not sure marketing would have saved the show but it couldn't have hurt.
Just saw on the news that In Transit has a promo through the month of April - if you purchase a full price ticket, you get a free one week metro card. I wonder how many people are purchasing full price tickets rather than using a service like TKTS?

Yeah, go back a page in this thread.

Well, In Transit definitely has to close by the fall for Once On This Island. (My hunch is that is where the revival is going which is why they can't say the name of the theater when announcing their dates.)
I don't wonder how much longer the show has. I wonder how this made it to Broadway, in the first place.
Caught this, last night and this is a very talented cast, performing in a show unworthy of a local grade school production. It reminded me of a vanity project, although, I don't think it is. Simplistic writing, banal lyrics and a trite plot. The cliches and stereotypes make it, nothing short of insulting. It was no surprise the theater was barely 2/3 full.
On the upside, Justin Guarini has stood out in everything I've seen him in and the entire cast was very good, which is a testament to their talent. Overcoming material, this bad, is not easy.
My companion whispered to me "bring back Fun Home." I don't see this winning awards, let alone being nominated.
The producers/investors are very, very, very wealthy. In these times of openly celebrated crass materialism and immorality, I wouldn't be surprised if favors were offered to the nominating committee (or just plain old bribes) to get their pet awful project some nominations. They've already funneled who knows how many millions into this money pit of a show.
Saw the show again and enjoyed it more the second time around. It was a matinee and the theater was barely half full.
A friend of mine is in the cast and over dinner afterwards he mentioned that there's hope the show might get a few Tony nominations. However, the cast is aware that audience size is shrinking and no one will be surprised if a closing notice is posted after the nominations are announced.
I went Sunday and actually had a great time. It was cute and sweet, and a nice pick-me-up on a crappy weekend. The theatre was about 2/3 full, if we're going to stay on topic.

OMG. Between the earlier MTA metrocard offer and now ^this^, I have reached the conclusion that my brain cannot even begin to fathom how much money the In Transit producers have in pocket. I mean...HOW?
Well, I've often said if I won a powerball I'd revive Aspects of Love (and Sunset Boulevard - perhaps with the mansion AND the 40 piece orchestra) so I suppose if you have the money and you're passionate about the work (which in this instance, from the lampooning it's received, is hard to appreciate) you're apt to mount it.
That being said, it's got to be demoralizing for the cast to see an empty theatre and those coming are paying an average ticket price of $25

How can they afford to give away two tickets AND a dinner?! Seems like a pretty cheap promotion...
