The Minnesota run starts 5 days after Edmonton finishes; I wonder if they'll keep the same cast for both cities.

Pauley is done with Evita on September 21, so she could return.

Of course, I have no idea what contracts the current Chicago/Boston cast have. So, it will be interesting to see if there are any changes for Broadway....

I understand it takes some time to get the lights and sound mix right and to explore a new environs, but does it really take a month? I freely admit I don't know what the usual "preview" period is (understanding that every show is different).

Also wondering if they will do more than 8 shows a week, or add a Sunday evening show - if equity rules allow Of course, they'd better get the alternatives ready to go in that situation....

"

A month for previews seems pretty typical for musicals? Especially if they're figuring out how to do the show in a bigger space, etc.

Like everyone else, I'm super excited!!

re: ggersten

Yes, it REALLY does take a month. Changes to a show's book and score are not the only things that happen throughout previews.

As far as AEA rules go, there is no rule preventing a Sunday night show. The only "rules" are that you can do 8 performances within a week and there has to be at least one day off. Anything more than that, you have to pay.

I wonder if they'll stick with the Chicago/ART cast or go for some bigger names for Broadway.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Let the show be the star.

They've made the commitment to these actors for the pre-Bway engagements, it would be silly to re-cast now. This group of women is going to be a tight, cohesive ensemble, the kind that you wouldn't get from 5 Bway rehearsal weeks. It clearly ain't broke. "Theatre names" are virtually meaningless at the box office; this running cost will be lean and mean, like a play -- probably about 400k/week.

I think you are being a little conservative in you're running costs. I know it was 10 years ago at this point, but if Next To Normal had a nut of $250k a week, I can't imagine six costing more then $350K a week, with an unknown cast of 8 including understudies, a 4 piece band, a barebones unit set. Add to that Beautiful has a nut in the $450k-$500k range. I just hope they currently booked the Brooks, but are hoping one of the shows lined up to take the Golden or Booth fall through. Side note, i am scared to know how much they will be trying to charge for tickets to this. West end tickets range from 20-65 pounds compared to Hamilton going for 75-250 pounds. I know Broadway has a premium, but I just hope they offer a decent number of student/accessible price tickets akin to Harry Potter and Twelfth Night/Richard III, but there is no way I am pay $176 for a 70 minute show for Orchestra seats. I also wonder if they are going to go with the 9 x a week performance schedule? I will guess though that they will do away with matinees and follow the Hedwig and the Angry Inch model of 7pm and 10pm performances.

The Brooks is one of my least favorite theaters. Their mezzanine is terrible. Was hoping this was going into the Longacre like previously rumored.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Terrible in what way? I don’t think there’s a bad viewpoint in the theater. Do you mean the seating itself?

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

Both Chicago and London runs have the first two rows cheaper than the other orchestra seats. I imagine this is for the curtain call social media. I have a ticket for closing this weekend in Chicago. Front row was ~$58, but they had promotions earlier in the run for people under 30 for $20. (Which I snagged a ticket!)

This is where I'm at too, so you're not the only one. Very happy for the creative team/investors/eventual cast for the show and I might give it a shot depending on ticket prices. If it stays as a shorter piece/one-act (I think it's ~75 minutes?) I hope they'll price it accordingly.

There will be more new musicals.  Flamingo Kid is all but confirmed.  Its likely we will get Almost Famous and/or Mrs Doubtfire as well.  And maaaaaaybe Moby Dick.  Lots of exciting stuff (with original scores) on the horizon :)

I'm 6'2" and find their mezz very cramped with limited leg room.

I. Am. So. Happy.

I can honestly say that I have not been THIS excited about a show in a very VERY long time. Yes even at it's short length. It's not always about the length of a show but the quality of the work. I mean... in truth this show is pretty much designed for my personal interests. I am a huge Renn Faire enthusiast and my home faire is coming off a 5 year run of the rulers being a young Henry and Katherine of Aragon. Fell in love with the performers that portrayed them and wanted to learn more about the real history. So I have been on a Tudor kick for a few years now.

I expect you will perhaps see a relatively smaller ticket price at launch to get butts in the seats but that ticket prices will steadily increase with it's popularity. I mean look at Hadestown ticket prices. I kick myself I didn't get my tickets when they first went on sale. I still got them PRE-Tony nominations before the prices skyrocketed but it shows that if a show is in demand, people will pay the price for it. And likely there will be a lower operating cost for the show as they are employing a small cast and likely small crew as well. It's going to be likely the union minimum required numbers on crew here to run it.

I was initially concerned about the size of the Brooks compared with the interest people  might have with the show. But everything I've seen about it has people so excited. I can't go on social media without seeing several posts talking about how much people love the musical. So I'm not realllly concerned yet about filling seats, I'm more concerned about the fact that it's an open run...even with the enthusiasm of those people, I'm wondering what will keep this show running. Word of mouth? Reviews? Will the old bats at the NYT appreciate it, AND appreciate that it's ORIGINAL music? Lots of questions. But we'll see!                   ALSO, I was on social media last night, and I can't believe I saw that people are actually COMPLAINING that this show is going into the Brooks Atkinson?? Seriously?? What did they think- Waitress would close and then the theater would remain empty?? *eye roll*. I haven't been able to fully process Waitress closing yet, but that doesn't mean I'm going to protest a new musical that so many love already coming in. Ridiculous.

Very very curious to see how this does on Broadway. If people play close attention to the lyrics and message they will see that this show is quite clever, entertaining and snappy (if a little heavy-handed). If audiences don’t pay close attention it will feel like an underwhelming shallow off-broadway show about characters they know nothing about and care nothing about. I have no idea how this will fare. My skepticism is it’s destined to be a flop, but I have been surprised at the buzz of current productions - as has I think everyone given its humble beginnings.

On Instagram I've seen some clips of a number that I think might be the opening, and it's so catchy and so well done! I might have to check it out...hoping for a rush policy.

This is the same for any show...keeping it open. I don't  see how this show is any  different.

A show  that only appeals  to one age group, cant really be "that" good.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

"I wouldn't be worried about the NY Times review of this show . Jesse Green reviewed the show  in Chicago and gave it a rave.  Times policy is that whoever reviews it out of town also re-reviews it on Broadway.

Don't even entertain the idea...the Golden & Booth are owned by the the Shuberts, and the Brooks is a Nederlander house.

When I saw Six in Chicago, the audience was very broad in terms of age range and they all seemed to enjoy it. I don't think it's more of a question of age, but of gender as the audience was mostly women. I think that any woman of any age can find something relatable in this show. The question is can it also appeal to men--but, then, probably the kind of men that wouldn't like this show wouldn't be seeing a musical on Broadway to begin with.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
