On good authority, I know that War Paint will be opening next spring on Broadway with David Stone as one of the producers. Changes will be made to the book and song selections in the interim. Even the ending may be changed from the current meeting of the protagonists. Watch for further announcements.

Well, perhaps I am, Le Tigre, but I can tell you that the audience we saw it with, made up mostly of older women, were less than rapturous, and since when does a standing ovation for two important stars mean anything other than respect? Audiences now stand for anything, and we all know that.

I hope they don't change the ending! I thought it was perfect. One of the best moments in the show
Totally agree. And it sets up "Beauty in The World" nicely. It's a gorgeous song for the last scene. If they want to tinker it I wouldn't mind hearing a reprise of "A Woman's Face" after the duet. It would kind of tie together the themes of the show
It's a bit quiet here! Hope an announcement is to come soon.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I know it doesn't really mean anything, but it picked a few joseph Jefferson awards(Chicago tony awards) so it was loved by someone.

I've watched the naughty video over and over. Great show. 'Pink' has to be one of the greatest 11 o' clock numbers of all time - Ebersole acting and singing is a tour de force. It's an "Around the World" equivalent. Patti's 11 o'clock number suffers in comparison because, for me, the melody isn't memorable. And, yes, it's hard to understand LuPone in the songs due to the accent even after multiple viewings.
The end meeting between the two women is perfection. So touching when LuPone applies Ebersole's lipstick for her. Don't change a thing in that scene!

One of my favorite songs of LuPone's is her first number Back on Top. Her voice is in GLORIOUS form and the song has a great melody, but I swear I can only make out like every fifth word and some whole sentences go by with nothing. I wish the lyrics were online somewhere. I am a huge LuPone fan, but it's almost comical how indecipherable she is with that accent when she sings.
But then I could barely understand her singing Invisible in Women on the Verge....
I thought I heard they are putting a play or holiday show at the Nederlander. Maybe I'm thinking of the lunt.

Did anyone manage to get an extra War Paint compact or have one that they are willing to sell? I wanted one so badly but the theatre has sold out by the time I saw the show and nothing seems to be appearing on eBay.
apropos of nothing, I was just in the Sleepy Hollow cemetery (of Washington Irving and Headless Horseman fame) in Sleepy Hollow, NY last week and saw that Elizabeth Arden was buried there. It's a completely plain, small grave marker in the midst of many other small. plain markers in a random field. Her name on the marker is Elizabeth Graham, a combination of her real (Florence Nightingale Graham) and business (Elizabeth Arden) names.
I can't find any explanation of why one of the richest women in the world (at the time) would be buried in this little backwater town. I don't see that she ever lived there or had family there. Anyone know, or is it addressed in the play?
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.

A friend of mine who goes to the same high school Patti did gave me this possibly interesting tidbit:
"So I think I have confirmation War Paint is coming to Broadway in Spring. I go to the same high school that Patti did and every year she's had us sing songs with her in one of her concerts. Normally it's around the third week of April, but this year it's in early January. Could it possibly be that she's going to be busy come springtime? HMMMMMMMM."
Just listened to this interview with Christine. She didn't say anything about War Paint coming to Broadway unfortunately. I think the fact that it was brought up could mean there is still a small glimmer of hope tho!

Oh dear. I hope she continues with the show. I'd like to see a revival of Follies now with Christine as Sally and Patti as Phyllis. Talk about incredible
