I have a seat in the box closest to the stage (Row 1 Seat 2). Does anyone know if this is a good seat? It looks decent from photos I've seen :)

I sat in the box closest to the stage on the second level on the right hand side facing the stage. The seats were fine but there were a few scenes where a character or two were out of view. Nothing that really took away from enjoying the show.

How is mezzanine seats? I was able to snag a ticket for next week but it's in the mezzanine (everything else was sold out!)

It's a pretty small theater, I was in the 4th row of the mezz and it was great! I personally always prefer to be closer, but this was one of my favorite mezz seats I've had.

Thanks for the response! I'm super excited to see this new musical with two of my favorite divas! I also love Scott Frankel and Michael Korie. Still hoping we will get to hear their "Finding Neverland" one day.

Just sat 4th row of the Mezzanine dead center for the Saturday Matinee. Couldn't be happier. Good show, the material is not as heart wrenching as Grey Gardens. Kind of hard to love the leads, so when multi-millionaires become millionaires is hard to cry. Good story, well told. Would have loved to hear a better duet for the male leads. Something with a little more bite and/or pathos.
Gotta think both will get Tony nominations next year. Chicago seems to love it. Sold out and extended 2 weeks.

Not that anyone raised the possibility of this, but it seems a fall Broadway opening is totally out of the cards. If and when this happens, it will definitely be in the spring.

^ also, in an unpredictable business, until her contract for Broadway is signed, LuPone can't exactly let jobs and bookings go by.

WAR PAINT is most definitely not opening in the fall. Spring should prove quite enjoyable.

I've tried to collect my thoughts as best i can so here we go..
First of all I have to say Patti and Christine are giving the performance of a lifetime in these roles. Amazing work vocally and acting wise from both. What I loved about this was the story, the importance of it, the score, the ladies etc. The opening number "A Woman's Face" is perfect and it sets the tone very well. I can't get it out of my head (as well as most of the score, if anyone has a naughty audio recording please send it my way!!). I personally didn't mind the format of the show. Some people on here said it was like vignette's to them. I personally saw the story cohesively and understood it. That being said, most of the score is brilliant.. most of the time. I think some of the songs need reworking to make them stronger. I'm talking about some of the lesser ones like the duet between Arden and her husband. I'd also like to see "Better yourself" expanded a little more. I love both acts but I thought "Face to Face", "War Paint", "If I were a man", "Pink", "Now You Know" and "Forever Beautiful" were the best songs. I also loved the last song the ladies sing but I wish they could incorporate another reprise of A Women's Face at the end of the show. I thought the second act itself was brilliant. The scene where the two ladies meet was perfect. It's exactly what the audience wants and it's truly perfect. Overall it's in great shape. It's a great show. Others who I talked to did not think so which is worrisome. The quality in this material is off the charts. It's such an important story that needs to be told. I'm not sure if this will be a great commercial production, but it will certainly be an artistic triumph. The bad: as i've said the weaker songs need to be tweaked, the mens material is interesting. I get that Dinosaurs is supposed to be the comic relief and the men do make the most of it but I'd rather see a book scene instead. This is just me being selfish but does anyone think there is room for a actual quartet for the two ladies and men? I think it would be a nice moment. I mean did Arden's husband ever miss her? Did Harry miss working for Rubenstein? I think either way these dynamics should and could be explored a little more. Either way I can't wait to see this show again (assuming there's a transfer in the works). I was blown away. I think this is one of the best new musicals as of late... Also I'm going to read the book now and watch the documentary. If you have a chance to see this show RUN RUN RUN. Totally worth it. Pure brilliance. (I apologize if this is rambling)

What is the documentary's title?

I believe it's a PBS documentary called The Powder and the Glory. They were selling copies of the book and the documentary in the lobby

Cool. Thank you. I'll check to see if it is on YouTube.

It would be great if Roundabout or MTC picked this up, because this show is a piece of art and not a cash cow. It will never recoup. It needs to be treated well and not looked at as a commodity. It's the best score I've heard in ages and both leading ladies are commanding.
A non-profit needs to get behind this.

Agreed. very little commercial appeal in this show tbh

Isn't David stone producing? It doesn't seem that would happen. Though I agree, there is not an ounce of commercial appeal.

I mean, admittedly it's a smaller theatre than likely the Broadway theater it would transfer to, and it's a shorter run, but this show is selling out at high prices. It won't run forever, but with an appropriately sized theatre, great reviews and a few Tony Awards surely it has at least a chance of recouping?

Has anybody had any luck with the lottery for this show? Something tells me they have only one pair of tickets to give out a night.

I feel like this show is going to divide theatre lovers. One of my good friends who's also seen the show didn't care for the storyline and the music but loved the ladies. This seems to be half of the reaction. I loved the show in its entirety.
