It just occurred to me that there will likely be two actresses playing Cinderella this season: one in INTO THE WOODS and another in CINDERELLA.

Three - in Once Upon a One More Time as well.
I don't see Into The Woods winning much of anything since it will likely be long gone by June.
And with Camelot opening in the spring, I think that will get all the revival buzz.

Yeah, that’s what people were saying last year about COMPANY and FUNNY GIRL.

HARMONY - Has a good shot at winning Best Musical
SWEENEY TODD - Best Revival

Sweeney possibly or Camelot or maybe even Into the Woods but Harmony LOL from what I've heard it won't be coming to Broadway...more like either Kimberly Akimbo vs. Some Like It Hot or Lempika but we'll see.

I really don't think Tony voters are going to forget about this version of Into the Woods. This isn't like Caroline or Change or anything, this is the show right now and even if it closes in October or January, I think it will still get lots of nominations and some wins.

It's a New York Times critic pix and won Best Book at Drama Desk.....

So Audra is getting her seventh Tony?

Haven't seen people really throwing this name out much yet but having seen the pre-Broadway run of & Juliet a few times now, I think Mel La Barrie has a decent shot at a nom (in addition to Betsy)

If Victoria Clark is a lock for Best Actress, the ITW producers should ideally be petitioning Sara for Featured - she surely has a good shot at a win there, no?

Not this year. I think Jodie Comer has it on lock.

Considering she is both above the title and there is precedent (Joanna Gleason won Best Actress for the original production), to attempt to place Sara anywhere else is blatant category fraud.

1000% This is one of those performances that basically will have no competition as far as awards go.
I cannot wait to see the screening of Prima Facie on Sunday. Definitely will get tickets for Broadway!

It would also potentially screw over Julia and Phillipa. Sara will definitely go lead, though maybe Drama Desk will put her in supporting, as they curiously did to both of the role’s previous Broadway actresses.

Even more confusing is that the Drama Desks put Laura Benanti as Cinderella in for Lead Actress for the 2002 revival

With all due respect: only a fool would rule out Audra winning a Tony.
So many revivals either announced/playing/or rumored. Hoping the rumored Cabaret transfer opts to open in late summer/fall of 2023.

I think it's safe to predict that Jefferson Mays will get a nomination for Lead Actor in a Play for his upcoming Christmas Carol. Certainly could win too, but depends on what else comes in this season.

There are so many contenders for lead actress in a musical this year
Patina Miller - Into The Woods
Sara Bareilles - Into The Woods
Crystal Lucas-Perry - 1776
Victoria Clark - Kimberly Akimbo
Lorna Courtney - & Juliet
Luna - KPOP
Adrianna Hicks - Some Like It Hot
Analeigh Ashford - Sweeney Todd
and maybe Linedy Genoa - Bad Cinderella
(also controversial but i think Phillipa Soo could win Featured Actress)
Please also add Crystal Lucas Perry for 1776! That woman is talented! She gave a spectacular performance! She at least deserves to be nominated.

A couple of notes on the Play side of things based on the preview threads (with obligatory caveat being that things could change & the people on these boards don't always mesh taste-wise with critics or Tony voters) John David Washington seems to be highlighted as a standout of The Piano Lesson more so than Samuel L. Jackson, and people seem to see Andre DeShields as being miscast in Death of a Salesman
