"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
I've been watching it, and I saw Angela! She looked absolutely lovely, walking across that stage, accepting her award. To be honest, I didn't expect her to win, and I didn't think she'd even be there, because so many of the others hadn't shown. I was so thrilled to see her - my sole reason for watching, just hoping I might catch a glimpse of her, and catch a glimpse of her I did! What a beautiful lady, and what a sweet speech she gave. I'm so glad I got to see her. Now if I can just see her in that show on Broadway!

I'm delighted with the awards - especially Greg Jbara's. Haydn is absolutely right - he IS insanely cuddly! He's also incredibly nice and a fabulous actor - particularly in this part.

I am so excited for Allison Janey. She may not have the best singing voice, But her acting was spot on!

December 19th- Noises Off, Edith Piaf Concert at Town Hall
Jbara gives one hope for the soul of our beloved theatre, must we all be arch and cutting, fluttering hands and two snaps at the end of all discourse? NO, we must breathe and embrace our souls and hearts, BRAVO to Mr. Jbara, a gem, a gift and a true man of the stage.
"...but the real question of the night is, who has actually sent Greg an email?? LOL"
I did. I couldn't wait to let him know how delighted I was for him.
I've gotten to know him well enough over the last few years to know how genuine his request is. He really is grateful to every individual who ever applauded his work on the stage and showed their appreciation for what he does there. He is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met and definitely the nicest I've ever met from the theatrical world.

I was thrilled for Angela Lansbury, but besides that I was bored out of my mind. Glad they cut the musical numbers, but geez, hardly anyone showed up to collect their awards.
Despite these awards, I still don't think Billy Elliot will make a clean sweep come Tony night, but it's a lock for Musical and several other prizes. I'm thrilled for Angela and Sondheim and Greg Jbara though. Not so thrilled with the keyboardist.

I do think we'll see a similar sweep at the Tonys. It has the momentum to win at least 8 Tonys and the potential to tie The Producers' 12. Can it win 13? I don't know... The only category I see as an uphill climb is Costume Design.
Alice Ripley wasn't nominated. She was nominated last year for the off-Broadway run. (She lost to Patti LuPone.) Much like Christine Ebersole wasn't nominated for the Drama Desk a second time when Grey Gardens went to Broadway.
