I'll be quite excited, because IMO if LuPone doesn't take it, Jenna Russell will.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

I'll be very upset... especially since I will be there in person.
But her life, the show and my own life will HAVE to go on
But yeah... After her losing for Mrs Lovett, I REAAALLY want this for her...

I love the evolution of titles this thread has had.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

You mean like Big Brown was gonna ****ing win the Triple Crown? "
hahahah! Oh BUUURN!!
I really loved Patti in Gypsy. I was moved to tears and I did not expect that. So of course I hope she wins the Tony but if not, so what? I only read the last few pages of this...whatever it is...but the impression I'm getting from the Patti fans is that they hope she wins and if she doesn't, it's not the end of the world. So what's the big deal?
"But I can tell you that Raoul, who was so handsome in "The Phantom," is now a drunken wreck."
who cares????? the Tonys do not mean anything to the mainstream unless the winner is a big, safe show that the white trash in the midwest will come to see. otherwise the same old seniors, gays, and fag hags will come to see the shows until the b/o runs out. and see how none of the gay mafia in NY or LA have made Patti a job offer since the show opened?
Do you know what happens when you let Veal Prince Orloff sit in an oven too long?
Then shocker for a lot of people I guess. How many Tonys has she won in her lifetime? Probably enough. I haven't seen Gypsy, but I hear it's pretty great as are the other shows which is why they're nominated in the first place. So, win or lose, let's just remember the reason why we care about the Tonys: because we all love theatre and should celebrate the win of any show.
He's a faker, and you've been taken in by his con. And in doing so, you are enabling him. He is doing more damage to aspergers than papa's words ever could. -Chane/Liverpool on me having asperger syndrome.

how many Tonys is "enough"? Hal Prince has, like, 21 Tonys. is that enough? Does Audra McDonald have enough Tonys? [she has 4] does Angela Lansbury have enough Tonys? [she also has 4] What about Boyd Gaines? [he has 3 and stands a pretty good chance to win his 4th on Tony night] Patti has one Tony that she won almost 30 years ago. I wish people would stop trotting out the argument that Patti already has a Tony, so someone else should win.

Every time I think that the words "Bitter Old Queen" are just a stereotype and a cliche that doesn't really exist anymore, fflagg posts and reminds me that there is one more left in the world.
I will be upset and dissapointed, but I'll be thankful, that I got to witness a really MAGICAL and INCREDIBLE performance, thanks to the urge of a few esteemed BWW friends !
Having just read this thread in its entirety, I'd like to apologise on behalf of the east side of the Atlantic. Generally we're much milder mannered than we've appeared in this thread and I'm as surprised as the rest of you that it got as nasty as it did.
As for the original topic, I'm not sure what I'd do if Patti didn't win. It's a toss-up between run to BroadwayWorld to watch the inevitable meltdown, or hide from BroadwayWorld and the inevitable meltdown. But there would definitely be a meltdown on BroadwayWorld. I just haven't decided whether I want to stick around and witness it or not.
Besides, it's a very strong year for Leading Actresses in Musicals. If Patti doesn't win, then at least we know that whoever takes it instead most certainly earned it.
