Does anyone else find this post by muscle23ftl really insulting. He wrote this in the article about Chita coming to Broadway on the site. He obviously has no idea of the career this woman had.
" i was afraid she was going to die when she danced in "kiss of the spider woman" and that was like 11 ys ago...then vanessa williams was awesome in the title role...why do people still hire old farts like that?"
Now, that is no way to talk about the legendary Chita. I just found that really bothering. It was such an ignorant statement wasn't it?

meh, don't listen to him. He's a ****
Yes, it was ignorant and disrespectful. But if it had been a lyric in FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, everyone would probably have thought it was the funniest thing they'd ever heard.
As for muscle23ftl...
(in sonorous voice) "You are young
Life has been kind to you
You will learn..."
Personally loved Chita in Kiss.
Only liked Vanessa.
Ignorance is bliss to some...

I once wrote a show called IGNORANCE IS P*SS
It went down a storm in my area
Let's just see muscle23ftl do what Chita does. At her age. Bet he/she can't do it!
Normally, I don't go for this sort of "gang up on the village idiot" stuff, but this jackball seriously needs to be slapped. I just endured his crass comments regarding Angela Lansbury's unfortunate slip at the Hollywood Bowl last week. Get ready to cringe...
"i feel so bad for her [Angela Lansbury]...i think she has been old since i was born.....that woman should not leave her home....i feel terrible about her...was she talented when she was young?"

According to his profile he enjoys Broadway and working out. Well, I hope he gets a hernia the next time he's doing a squat thrust.

Chita was an honorary guest at the Tremaine National dance competition that I attended this weekend.
She was very cool. Why do people have to disrespect?
She's had an amazing career.

Meh. All looks, no books. The Lansbury comment proved it for me
Yup... Kinda sad... When some guy can worship his muscles and not Chita! I would understand if he were ripped, but I think Miss Chita (As OLD as she may be...cough!) could still kick this guys ass!

Chita is still going strong! maybe they hire the more mature performer because none of the younger generation had what they were looking for?
I found it offensive.
Remember Muscle, one day you will get old and how would you like to be talked about like that.
Chita, do your stuff!
You go girl.
Chita rocks!

Her Roxy Hart in London was fantastic! (FOR ANY AGE!!!!).
Ugggh. I can't believe he said that about Lansbury also.
Lansbury, Channing, Rivera, Bea Arthur--they are all classic, and I would see them in anything. Why the hell has age got to stop talent, class, and achievement?
I forgot Elaine Stritch.
I'm so excited for her to come back to broadway. It also gives younger people the oppurtunity to see a legend.
More sickening Muscle comments regarding Chita..
"ok...i dont think anyone who is old is not talented...but she cant sing or dance...robert goulet is older than her and he can still sing...but he is realistic and he is not going to dance in his shows."
Ok, Chita may not be known for the beauty of her signing voice, but she can put a song over. She has star charisma. When she's on stage, she lights up the entire theatre. She is riveting.
Singing + great dancing + superb acting ability = a star.
When I saw her in Kiss, she was the Spider Woman – dangerous and mysterious. Exciting. I could totally understand why someone, like Molina, would put her on a pedestal and constantly create fantasies about her. Her dancing just sparked off the stage out into the audience. Unforgettable performance.
(Vanessa, on the other hand, while she is prettier, younger, and has a nicer singing voice, wasn’t nearly as riveting. She gave a nice performance, but there wasn’t the energy or life force. Not complaining about her, but there was no comparison.)
It’s truly sad that the younger generation is so disrespectful of the older folks. Where’s the sense of history and learning from previous generations.
(steps down off soapbox…)
Now now now!
As everyone LOVES to scream on this site, 'EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION!'
It's their RIGHT! FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
If someone wants to let the world know that they are an a$$hole, who's to say they're wrong.
I just think it's funny - that I am younger than Muscle - and I'm a big Chita fan. I respect, and enjoy the performers and shows from the old days of Broadway so much.
OK...IM HONORED MY QUOTE MADE AN IMPACT...LOL....I DIDNT SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT LANSBURY ,I JUST SAID I FELT BAD FOR HER.
I DONT KNOW IF SHE CAN PERFORM ,BECUZ I HAVE NEVER SEEN HER...I JUST SAID SHE HAS BEEN OLD SINCE I WAS BORN. ON THE OTHER HAND I HAVE SEEN CHITA AND I THINK SHE WAS TERRIBLE...AND THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY! AND YES...SHE IS OLD AND I THINK SHE CANT DANCE ANYMORE...I JUST SAW ROBERT GOULET AND HE IS OLDER THAN HER, BUT HE CAN PERFORM AND HE WAS BRILLIANT. I AM SELF CRITICAL AND IF I SEE THAT I CANT BREATH WHEN IM DANCING I WOULD BE HONEST TO MYSELF AND SAY "OK...IM TOO OLD TO DO THIS SH*T" AND QUIT.THATS IT.
In psuedo-defense of Muscle, I had a converstation with my mother in regards to Chita about 4 years ago. I said, "I can't believe she is still able dance at her age." (Mind you, I don't know very many older women who can still dance with skill.) My mom said, "She has been kicking up her heels as long as I can remember."
Point is, very few elderly people I know still have the strength to do streneous physical things. So when someone like Chita is still able to dance and Angela is able take the stage to sing...it's just odd to see. Odd but wonderful. I love those woman... including Bea Aurthur and Rue. However, I wouldn't dare call them names like 'old farts'. Talent is talent.

I also believe that Chita had metal pins put in her hips after her accident that would aid her in hip rotation as age set on. I can only dream that I will be able to dance as well as she does at 72 years old!!! Someone said it earlier but I will reiterate. Girl can still out dance most dancers on Broadway a quarter of her age.
PS: Muscle, you may want to turn off the all caps dude.
