re: 'Wicked' Stage Door Yesterday (Aug 25th)

I don't think it was a bad day--I know someone who goes before the show every time shes in the city and Idina has been rude every time--even pushing people out of her way to get to the stage door.

Maybe she's getting into character people! After all, she's supposed to be "Wicked" isn't she??! (wow, I should write these down!!!)

"even pushing people out of her way to get to the stage door..."

Now, were these just random people she pushed out of the way who just happened to be standing near the Gershwin, or diehard Wicked fans purposely waiting at the stage door hoping to get an autograph? If it was the latter, didn't Idina/Kristen ask fans NOT to stand at the stage door BEFORE a show to get autographs?

EDIT: Ahhh! I said I wasn't going to get involved in this post again. Guess I forgot, a bit tired over here.

i'm sorry, but signing autographs comes with the territory. and they can't complain about fans because it is to be expected. and yes, if fans paid lots of money to see you and spent hours waiting for you then you DO owe it to them to sign their playbill or snap a picture. the diva attitude has no need whatsoever. i've heard so many times how idina is just cruel and rude and it doesn't give off a good impression to her "adoring fans." it's ridiculous...and it IS part of their job.

Yes, I agree with that part...but it only should be after the show since that is what they requested on their part.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with going to a stage door before a show - that's how I "met" Susan Egan. I took a quick picture with her and said a quick thank you. She didn't stick around and have a conversation with me because I understand, the woman does have a job to get to! There were no large crowds or anything, so I don't think that was a problem.

However, it was already requested that people stop standing by the stage door waiting for autographs BEFORE the show at the Gershwin Theater. Autographs come after.

I heard Edna Mendel once wore golf cleats outta the theater and stepped on the face of a baby who smiled at her.

Well I've never heard its been asked that people wait. Yeah-they were fans, but still--pushing fans?! That's a little far. Plus, this same person saw Kristin and she was completely sweet and nice and willing to take pics. IF they don't want people there, they should post something at the door and if people still stay there before the show, they deserve to not get an autograph.

yes buying a ticket does not mean the actors have to sign autographs & take pictures...but how someone treats fans or people in gerneral says alot about them.

I seem to remember the exact same complaints about Nathan Lane when he didn't sign all the time for The Producers... Until you have to sign autographs everywhere you go, and are constantly hounded by people who think that they're your friend, don't say it's their duty. Some people just aren't people persons!

Wait! You mean Kristin was the sweet and nice one??? I could have sworn I read differently here not so long ago. Or could it just be that people come here from different frames of references...and different agendas?

Nicola McAuliffe was exactly the same in CHITTY in London. Some people were complaining about how rude she was to those waiting for autographs, whilst others (myself included) were lucky enough to catch her on a good day and she was lovely. (As long as you only wanted an autograph/pic - not a conversation).

And, whilst I'm not sure this story hasn't been exaggerated a tad, I must say that tapping someone on the shoulder to get their attention isn't exactly polite. If Idina was already feeling stressed out or down (which she may well do if she's coming to the end of a run) then the fact that the girl tapped her on the shoulder may have made her lose her temper for a second or two. Alternatively, maybe she's the type who, just as fans expect autographs, expects that if she walks past fans without a word they will get the hint.

Once again, Matt_G, you whittle the issue down to the most important points. That's what I try to say constantly, in my bumbling way.

One thing I am curious about is why this people are saying it will change how they feel about Idina if she really is this unpleasant to her fans.

Bebe Neuwirth, Elaine Stritch, Bea Arthur, Stockard Channing. I am a fan of all 4 ladies, and they are all legendary for their c**tish treatment of fans. Doesn't make like them any less.

And there are others of my personal acquaintance who are wonderful to their fans, and horrific b***ches to anyone who has to deal with them in real life.

Exactly. The list could go on and on of people who are either evil to fans or colleagues. But still I find myself not disliking them for it.

And yes it is, LittleFish. So we won't stop. Ever.

Littlefish, obviously some people think it is important. We're just having a discussion.

Exactly, LittleFish. So tell us some more nasty things about the way Idina treats people. You know you want to.......

re: 'Wicked' Stage Door Yesterday (Aug 25th)

I've never experienced any rudeness from Idina---However, I don't wait 2 1/2 hours after a show for her or anyone else's autograph. She a great singer blah blah---but nothing special to me. She is just a person you know. So what if she's rude; lots and lots of people are.
