I think, for me, I would if I was able to lose some weight(no one really wants to see a fat person nude).
I totally agree with the for the plot mentality.
if it would help my characterization, or put me in the situation...
I mean the scene was written when the person was completely naked...
why comprimise it?
Well, I think you would only have to shave if it was a contemporary piece. Because people didn't really do that in the past as much, right?
apparantly Daniel Radcliffe shares that same philosiphy. :)
This is true, but sometimes for guys shaving or trimming gives an appearance of that area being larger. Theatres can be cold.
to piggy back on this topic, do people get paid more when they do nudity in theatre, or is it the same no matter what.

A few years ago I would have answered with a hearty "Yes"
However, I've had surgery and am not willing to expose its ravages to the public.

Yes. Yes I would.
"However, I've had surgery and am not willing to expose its ravages tot he public."
Ewwww...Thank God for small miracles! "tot he public?" Are you teaching pig Latin again in English class or is my Dan Quale spelling course rubbing off? lol!
Probably... If it was warrented in the show... or for artistic reasons...
Yes please. Me love nakey.
Interesting question. I've come so ridiculously close in some shows (Cabaret and Li'l Abner are the first to come to mind), that I might not be opposed to going that extra step. BUT, I'd have to be hotter than I am now. College has not been good to me.
I've already done it and I wouldn't mind doing it again. I thought I would never be able to do it, but once I did, I saw that it was no big deal at all. I wouldn't even mind if there were family in the audience.

No. I'm a civil servant, it really would be quite quite wrong.
And I wouldn't on stage either. But then, I have no desire to be on a stage fully clothed, let alone 'stripped down to the essentials'...

I am definately not an actor, but thinking about it, I proberly would at this stage in my life. I am definately more happy with myself and willing to show the world then I was only a few years ago.
I've never done it on stage, just on film, and it is more difficult to be aroused than it is to just stand there naked and flaccid on stage. That would be a piece of cake! No issue at all.
I try to be naked as much as possible anyway. So doing it on stage would be fine.
When I was in "Hair" I did the nude scene along with everyone else at the end of Act I. The staging and the lighting make it not too much of a shocker though.
...and my parents were both in the audience for one of the first few performances. That was a bit uncomfortable, but what's a thespian to do?
>>The atmosphere or the temperature.
oh just the temperature. a little nudity can arm an audience riiiiight up. even when critics are there.
No...I don't feel like sharing that with a whole bunch of people every night.
You've got to EARN something like that from me...
I'd be too afraid that I wouldn't be able to control IT and the audience would get more of a porn video than a theatrical performance.

I've done it and would do it again. I've even done it when it seemed gratuitous and didn't mind too much.
However, I did see a production of Cabaret where at the end of the show the MC was stripped naked and thrown into a coffin--it seemed completely over the top and just sort of ruined the show for me.
Sure--It's not that much of a leap...Kringas is right...and HUGE!
I'm already trying to get my director to let me take off clothes on stage... (Hey, it just doesn't make sense to put on a robe OVER an evening gown after just getting home.)
I've been on stage in underwear before and was pretty much unbothered. I would absolutely go the full monty. I'd imagine it's very liberating.
