Oh boy oh boy - I'm the original poster again - hanging my head in shame - LOL - don't worry, I have a thick skin - I particularly like the person who called me an "asshole" for suggesting pot brownies. I guess she doesn't want one.
And some ask why I would want to get high before seeing the Addams Family? If I have to explain it .....
I'm a pot smoker - go ahead, judge and throw stones. Just don't bogart the joint. Updated On: 5/31/10 at 03:43 PM
See, it was the sheer hatred for the subject that made me laugh.
Don't hang your head because someone else is ashamed.

Oh, and since I've already been interviewed by her, I can say, without a doubt, that I prefer root canals.

Because, if you spell it correctly, ch ar don nay has 'HARD ON' in the middle of it. That's what the filter is picking up.

Are Hard On's a bad thing here? I like Hard On's and they're legal unlike marijuana so why can we discuss that and not Hard On's when a Hard On is perfectly natural.
I thought that Mallardo explained that a page ago with this post:
"As for C****onay, what? We can't say HARD on this site?"
Too subtle?
Don't laugh, Jordan. I know someone who was handcuffed and taken into custody because a police officer thought he smelled weed on them. This was in Times Square. Since he didn't find any, though, they were released.
Both that and the c****nay filter here are pretty silly.
I know I'm joining this debate a wee bit late into the game, but I wanted to add my two cents. I smoke weed and I think it's incredibly rude to smoke before a show, whether you smell or not. You should be giving your undivided attention to the performers on the stage, no matter what show. And if you smell like weed, even worse. Not everyone smokes or can tolerate the smell.
Like Diva, I'm finding this thread, which I initially found really silly, a little interesting. Particularly Colorthehour's post. For those opposed the the smoking (removing the scent out of the equation) do you differentiate between marijuana and alcohol regarding the indulger's ability or lack thereof to give undivided attention to the show? Unless you're totally blitzed (on either), I can't see how that factors in.
I think the attention bit is less about noticeably not giving your full attention and the actual principle of the matter. Even if you're totally composed, you're still not fully there. The actors are up on the stage giving their all, so you should do the same. Even if you don't like the show or the performer, they deserve respect.

Maybe you're not smoking the right kind.

I can choose to enjoy and experience a show whichever darn way I please. I am not there to worry about the performers giving their all or showing anyone on stage respect. I am there for me. Also.. chances are at that at any given performance ( especially those Wednesday matinees) more than half the audience is on something. Wether it is booze, pot, or pills.
Oh, I have nothing against smoking in general, especially if it's medicinal. The whole "get help" thing was mostly a joke. My problem with some of the posts in this thread is the fact that some people who consider themselves theatre fans need to get high in order to sit through a show. If you truly enjoy the theatre, you should not need anything to enhance your experience. Needing it to write/compose/perform is a totally different issue. And I honestly find the smell of weed a lot worse than the smell of alcohol, cigarettes, cologne, BO, etc. It's just personal taste.

Why would that be a different issue? Updated On: 5/31/10 at 06:57 PM

Says who?

I understand that. I would be mortified if anyone could smell weed or booze on me while at the theater or anywhere. Or for that matter cologne or what I had for dinner. I once had to sit next to someone that smelled of old age. Not their fault. Nothing they were doing on purpose. When someone takes out a cell phone, starts texting and creating that light that everyone can see... that is offensive and I want to rip the freaking phone of their hands.
