Since we're drowning in the volume of negative threads (ANOTHER "Which show will close next?", "I hate Wicked!", "I hate people who hate Wicked!" and anything with the word "Dracula" in it...), if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! (In fact, I'll start with Wicked, just for good measure, and to ensure that as all the Oz-A-Oafs come out of the woodwork and flame me, but at least guarantee that this thread will last a good long time.)
I don't know if it's the most ovverated musical of all time, but am I the only one who was totally underwhelmed by The Music Man and Annie? (Although I admit I really enjoyed Audra McDonald in the ABC version.)
"It's not always about you!!!" (But if you think I'm referring to you anyway, then I probably am.)
"Good luck returning my ass!" - Wilhemina Slater

"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
My. Fair. Lady. Oh wow, don't get my started on how much disdain I have for this one....
Not a Music Man fan either. Ick.
If you limit your choices to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise."- Robert Fritz
I tried to watch the Les Mis 10th Anni concert DVD too, and wanted to light my hair on fire. It's coming to Vancouver in a few months. Am I a bad Broadway fan for not wanting to see it? (I feel as though I should drop the $70 and watch it, just to validate my Broadway fanshipness.)

Sure, Cats, but don't tell me you don't get that goddamn "Jellicle Cats" song stuck in your head every time you think of the show.
But just in case you don't:
"Because Jellicles can and Jellicles do Jellicles do and Jellicles can Jellicles can and Jellicles do Jellicles do and Jellicles can Jellicles can and Jellicles do"
If you know the tune, now trying to get THAT out of your head.
Edited to say: Looking back at that clip, and realizing that aside from Memory, this is the only other tune that comes to mind when most people think of Cats, I can now understand why people think it's the most overrated musical.
But do these lyrics really seem worse than "Nessa-Confessa"?! (I've brought this up before, but really people!!)

Well Yea Type-A-Tiff, if you saw the Ann. Version. It's not that powerful especially since it had Colm Wilkinsen. Seeing the actual stage version is really different, you might enjoy it. You should go, and if you don't like it feel free to PM me and complain...:)
The way it's sung, I actually thought it was Jellic-AHH, Jelli-OOH...
But I looked up the lyrics just to make sure. :)
Okay, I'll buy tickets (or hopefully get free press tickets) for Les Miserables, but can someone please provide me with an interesting synopsis of the show? And don't just link me to a website with the plot, because those so far have put me to sleep. Tell me the plot of the show, and make it up if you have to. (Isn't there a part where all the young male leads shower together to conserve water, since they're all like, poor and les miserable and stuff?)
