On the Be More Chill instagram they announced the show will be closing August 11th.
I wonder whats so appealing about that date?
i am ready to watch the Twitter and Tumblr teens go absolutely ape over this. It's unfortunate, but we all saw it coming based on the grosses. Best wishes to the cast!
Complete misfire, the whole way through. I'm sorry for the cast, crew and everyone involved though.
I said this yesterday about The Prom closing 8/11 also -- why can't these shows at least stick around until Labor Day weekend, like in the good days? Unless a fall show wants to get in there early...
This was a really talented cast, I hope we'll see them on Broadway again soon.
Some of these kids are really talented. I hope they get the chance to join a better show.

Y'all lost your MINDS whenever someone said something negative in The Prom's closing thread, but you're out the gate swinging with joy about BMC. Hate this place sometimes.
It is odd that the producers decided to close the show on the very same day that The Prom is closing.

Closing announcements usually come in threes, so I am not that surprised, but what will the third one be? King Kong maybe?

A shame. It's kind of cheesy, but Iconis is one of the only musical theatre writers writing shows for nerds. There was an article where they said his songs are sung by the people who normally run lights. It fills a niche that I don't think has every really been filled before on Broadway.

I believe that’s celebrity deaths that you’re thinking of.

that too, but look at last year with Getting the band back together, carousel and spongebob all closing on the same day.
Too bad. Wasn't my favorite, but it still made a decent afternoon. Congrats to them!
I've been a fan of this show long before it even was thought to come to Broadway so even as it wasn't doing as well as I wish it did, this show has still come a long way. Seeing it next week so I'm glad for that and I know this show will blossom so much better after Broadway

Puffs off-Broadway also just announced its closing date.

I thought the same thing.

Is this joy happening in a different thread? I'm mostly seeing "Not my favorite show, but I feel for the cast/crew" sentiments.
I am seeing hardly anything negative about the show on this thread. Meanwhile, in the toxic "stan" world of BMC, people are going OFF and blaming everyone....except themselves
So should I lotto it? I really don’t care. But try to see everything.

I saw someone go off about how this is closing yet Tootsie is still open. Like sorry “stans” but people are more likely to see that because they’ve seen the movie than this show, even if people did want to see this.

I like this show, so I'm sad it couldn't last longer. I hope to see the cast in other stuff soon.
Also, just last week, the show started running a contest for lunch with Joe Iconis and 4 tickets to the August 14th show.
RippedMan, StubHub has tickets for this Saturday for as low as $12.

Agreed. Those kids worked their butts of the evening I saw it.

I've seen plenty of times when a favorite show closed that people on this board have talked about being "totally gutted", the injustice of its closing and what and who to blame for its failure or said they can't believe it's closing while (fill in the blank) is still running. Is that the criteria we're using for being lumped in the dreaded "stan" category?
