Now if we could just get a filming of the show, it would be all the better!

Yep, I stopped posting on ATC years ago, and I was a long time poster. This is a great example of why I stopped posting. Bitter bitter bitter.

Me, I am THRILLED about this great news. I love this production, I love the cast...I love the show, period. So, so happy about this.

Tommy Krasker has apparently confirmed that the cast recording will indeed happen to playbill:

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

When Danny Burstein said it'd be the "full score", I hope he really meant it. I'd assume they'd need to do something to make it a full two discs, so dialogue seems like a reasonable possibility .

Why would anyone be against this recording? If they didn't like the production, fine. They're obviously under no obligation to purchase the recording or even listen to it! All That Chat, and BroadwayWorld to a lesser extent, makes me realize that I'm not as picky and bitchy as I often think I am. Geez!

Any new Broadway cast recording is good news. They're so expensive to record these days and they rarely return their investment. I understand that all the unions want to make sure their members are properly compensated, but I really wish something could be done to lower the costs and make it more economically feasible for more shows to record and make a profit. I'm glad PS Classics is sparing no expense and giving Follies the recording it deserves.

Excited to have the full score, though it certainly isn't that well-sung of a production. Saw it last Thursday and couldn't understand how anyone thought Bernadette could sing it in the first place. 'Too Many Mornings' was rough. Very rough.

They probably want to get it in the theatre while the show is still running.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Another "Yay!" from me... Follies Cast Album is a Go!

I think I read here that Bernadette has been having allergy and voice problems - I hope she will be in fine voice by October. I have every faith she will deliver a flawless performace and preserve her portrayal at its very best.

Jay-I saw Bernadette the other night and aside from transition to head voice from chest voice she sounded very good. And her performance is brutally honest and completely vulnerable and real.

wonder what label it'll be on. I'm guessing PS Classics, since they're the go-to for Sondheim recordings.

If that is the case, and Goldman's widow allowing, we'll undoubtedly get a very complete recording with dialogue.

PS Classics has nothing to do with the expense. The expense is being borne by the producers - thank them for sparing no expense.

Waaaaaah. I am not a patient person.
