."Who Will Love Me As I Am?" from Side Show ."I Will Never Leave You" from Side Show ."Prologue" from Into The Woods ."Last Midnight" from Into The Woods ."Candy Store" from Heathers
No one has mentioned the song with which I'm obsessed, from the musical with which I'm obsessed: Music of the Night, from The Phantom of the Opera. Being somewhat familiar with the Lon Chaney movie, I decided never to see the ALW POTO, because I assumed that I would hate anything that was based on a horror movie. However, even then, I loved MOTN. When my husband rented the 2004 movie, I was HOOKED.
As a kid I was obsessed with Just You Wait, from My Fair Lady -- definitely a revenge song.
I'm by no means obsessed with Les Miz, but "Do You Hear the People Sing" has become part of my psyche.
Audrey
Audrey, the Phantom Phanatic, who nonetheless would rather be Jean Valjean, who knew how to make lemonade out of lemons.
"Wig in a Box" from Hedwig "Moonshine Lullaby" from Annie Get Your Gun "Trouble Man" from Lost in the Stars "Softly as in a Morning Sunrise' (is there any other kind of sunrise btw?) from The New Moon "I've Got Love" from Purlie "All the Things You Are" from Very Warm for May "With Every Breath I Take" from City of Angels "Some Other Time" from On the Town "But Not for Me" from Oh, Kay "Where do I Go?" from Hair
I have to say, I'm obsessed with anything written by Sondheim, like Now You Know, Company, A Weekend in the Country and so on, but the last two months I'm constantly listening How Can Love Survive? and No Way to Stop It from The Sound of Music and A Lovely Night form Cinderella. There's just something about those songs that make them irresistable... Of course, my no. 1 obsession is still Sondheim.
They change ALL the time. Right now I am obsessed with:
On The Steps of the Palace Last Midnight From the movie vesion of "Into the Woods"
and I will always listen to "We Dance" from Once on this Island and anything by Jason Robert Brown.
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
