The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

My sole Tony-wishlist item for this year is an Andrew Burnap nomination. I did love Camelot despite many detractors, and I'm pretty sure 95% of that was because of his performance.

Me too!

I agree.  This is the biggest disappointment of the morning (thus far) for me.

CBS announced 6 categories. Camelot was shut out. They did not announce best revivals.

Colton Ryan over Andrew Burnap? Wow.

Pleasantly surprised to see Ain’t No Mo’ and Cost of Living in the Best Play category. No surprises in the Best Musical category.

Same, but I think they'll reward it with some tech noms and possibly Best Director, though missing Best Actor and Best Play do not forebode well.

Why again does Best Actress have 4 slots?

I wonder if that last minute transfer of Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window backfired? No Rachel (only 4 in Actress in a play!) or Oscar.

Not enough performances eligible in Leading Actress in a Play, so it reduced from five to four nominees.

It’s based on the total number of eligible actresses.

Nominations aside, I will never understand why the presenters reading these are not taught how to pronounce the names of the plays. Prima Facie and Leopoldstadt were… oof.

But congrats to the nominees!

There was definitely a lot of backlash for their decision to transfer at the last second (and not invite critics again yet). Not saying that's why it was snubbed, but it definitely didn't help.

That is the production's preferred pronunciation of Prima Facie. I believe that's how it's said in Australia, where playwright Suzie Miller is from.

I'm not entirely surprised that Life of Pi didn't get in.  And secretly kinda proud that I went 5/5 on my Best Play predictions.  :)
