I pray this kid goes there
I love this thread! Schmerg and Diva are my heroes!
Thanks for the kind thoughts!
Manny, unless you look good in drag...
LOL Colleen Lee! The show Celra and I were talking about IS in Philadelphia!! I guess what my mother always told me was true - "Keep your piehole shut in the theater, or risk a bullet in the arm or a punch in the face".
btw, Diva, you're hot.

Ok, I will chime in here. Rent is most definitely a Rock opera and is a very different beast than a show like South Pacific or Phantom of the Opera. It has a very different group of fans. Because of its style, screaming and cheering is to be expected, however it is still a musical and not a rock concert, there are moments when screaming and cheering are appropriate and moments when it is not. It would be nice if people cold tell the difference between those moments.
For those of you who do not enjoy any screaming and cheering at all, Rent is clearly not the show for you. You know that there will be some degree screaming and cheering before you ever enter the theatre when seeing this show, it has always been there and until the tour closes it will always be there, if you can't deal with it then don't go, instead sit in the quietness of your own home and watch the DVD that comes out next month so that you won't be bothered by the world that no amount of therapy can truly protect you from.

I think everone expects and can tollerate a certain amound of cheering and screaming at Rent. Cheering when the cast takes the stage, during applause, at the end of the show, etc. aren't that big of a deal.
It's when people start cheering every time Roger comes onstage or whenever Mimi does something sexy or someone screams "I LOVE YOU EDEEEEEEN!" during Over the Moon that it gets inappropriate and out of hand. These people need to realize that everyone around them paid money to see a professional production, not a pep ralley.
If only the change was the return of Jesse L. Martin, then all would be right with the world.
I'm seeing the show in Buffalo in less than two weeks. I've never been to Buffalo. Can't wait.

That is exactly what I was trying to say.
Yeah, well, my mom didn't even go to college!

lol, that made my day!!
Oh, and Diva, yeah, I don't think I look very good in drag, but you pull it off beautifully!
I'll wear a "Hello My name is____" nametag with your name on it, that'll be my costume.
Or throw on a WICKED shirt and some puka beads and carry around a cardboard cutout of Rue.

Ha, yeah. I'm still wearing the nametag though, just for ****s and giggles.
Actually, my drag name is Diva...
Anyone going tomorrow night in Cleveland?

How anticlimactic.
I was kind of hoping for them to cut SOL, just to catch some sort of an epic reaction from the audience.
It would have been brilliant.
I always thought the lighting in Rent was somewhat under-appreciated. I'm interested to see the new lighting.
I hear Mimi defys gravity over the theater.
sooo the big thing was over some lighting changes.... hmm...
I feel like the "moving" change is probably the one to the eulogy section.

So the only one I would even consider significant is the thing about the eulogies. What was the other one? The tables?

Anthony is so strange. To him the movie didn't include any major changes, but these are "significant". Whatevs.
I have tickets to see the tour in North Carolina. I've never seen Rent onstage and now I'm nervous as hell because of the scary fangirls! I've heard stories, of course, but I've never been in close proximity.

Ha! At first I figured since Rapp was the one who mentioned these significant changes, that perhaps one was the red light for "Tango Maureen."
Prepare for PMs from Rapp.
Maybe the changes will be to explain why two guys in their late 30's are behaving like they are still young and hanging out with other people young enough to be their kids.
