Healthy run for a revival, though I think it should have closed when Radcliffe left.

Very happy that gorgeous theatre is getting a new show, though.

Does anyone remember the uproar from the fangirls on facebook etc. when Daniel Radcliffe was being 'replaced'? lol

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

It had a good run and played for longer than I expected. Rough day, nonetheless.

I really loved this production, and am so glad to have gotten to see it several times. I hope to be at closing, or if not - catch it again before it closes.

I've been waiting for this since Jonas joined the cast. Although I was never keen on seeing it to begin with. I wanted to see Darren though. His run was too short. Kind of glad it's going.

So does this mean "Into the Woods" now has a new home?

(I do so love it when people announce long term plans for productions that haven't even begun previews!)

This is too soon! They would have had a great summer! The fangirl tourists would flock now that school is out!

Ridiculous. They could have lasted until the end of Nick's contract.

took in next to nothing last week.
they couldn't give tickets away.

sad for the actors - but a terrible, awful, horrible and tortuous show.

This doesn't surprise me. Nick Jonas, unlike Harry Potter, has a very limited audience. He's not really a star.

Yes, they recouped their $9 million in December 2011. It's in the first paragraph of the closing article.
His contract was supposed to end July 1st, I believe. Which was also... posted above.

I wonder if shows can ever go from recoupment back into debt...I mean it sure sounds theoretically possible, I wonder if it has happened in this case..

I wasn't planning on seeing this show during my trip in July, but now when I go, it will seem like everything is closed...

It's so depressing to take pictures of dark theaters.

I hope that they announce a tour or something.

Why only those two? Plenty of other shows to see.

WHY would you take pix of dark theatres?

TBH I thought it would until July, it has been struggling for a while so not a surprise, it does mean there are now prime theatres up for grabs.

Problem is once Evita opened, all the groupies went to see Ricky.
