This could be a game changer when it comes to filming Broadway shows. This is beyond incredible.

wonderful news!
Count me in!
Wow! For the first time, that service's name won't be a total falsehood.
But will it be available after the live stream?

If not legally available, I'm sure someone on the Internet will be able to rip the stream...
According to the NY Times, the stream will cost $9.99 and afterwards will become a regular part of BroadwayHD's catalog.

I think this could change the game in the more limited category in which it exists -- not for profit shows without a commercial producer attached. I see not a shred of evidence that any sane commercial producer is going to hop on board.
Very cool! I wonder what made them choose June 30? It's a Thursday night.
You know, if they did this for 'Hamilton' and broadcast it in movie theaters, they could charge whatever they wanted per seat and people would pay it. Especially people who live in countries that will never get a tour. Maybe this will put the idea in someone's head.

The night thst is most convenient for you was already taken.
Hogan, even if means that, say, Roundabout now begins doing this at the end of the runs of all their shows - that's still a huge deal.
Oh absolutely, Jordan. I was just trying to head off the "Hamilton should be next" prong of this thread, but as you can see I was too late.
I literally came so close to crying?? Which is SO over the top, but COME ON. I'm SO excited. What a brilliant show to pick.

Ah. Yes, totally understand. But if this does well, who knows what it will mean for other shows wanting to do this. Even one other show deciding to follow suit would be amazing. But I do hope that eventually HAMILTON is filmed and then never shown, just to drive people crazy .
Roundabout should just go for broke and live stream LONG DAYS JOURNEY, while they're at it.

I had the same thought. Why not?

Weekend nights, like a Friday or Saturday, are more convenient for most people. But, whatever. I'm still looking forward to it.
As a theatre kid far away from Broadway, this is literally a dream come true. I will eagerly pay for a BroadwayHD subscription to see this performance-- and hopefully more like it!
After a long, stressful morning, this has absolutely made my day. Wonderful, wonderful news.

Does anyone know if BroadwayHD works abroad or if it's another thing that's region blocked outside of the US?
