Lin was hinting at a big announcement on Jimmy Fallon tonight on Twitter...could this be it?

I gotta imagine this is going to be enjoyable enough but certainly not at the price of admission on broadway and is going to print money even on a short run.

the most expensive improv show ever and with the promise of Lin MAYBE being there the night you go. pass.
An usher at the theatre the last week of Gary told me this is indeed the next show at The Booth.
I find it so funny on people's responses to the hint. I have honestly nothing against Freestyle Love Supreme, but a lot of these people are hyping themselves up to be disappointed.

Good luck to them , but I couldn’t think of any thing worse
I can't wait to be already annoyed by the hype about this.

I wonder how this will be handled come awards season. I can't imagine a LMM show being on broadway for 4 months and not getting any nominations but I also can't see how that would work. Who would even be eligible? Would the performers? Improv is so apples-to-oranges to regular musical theatre that it's impossible to nominate them for the same awards. I am not looking forward to seeing how they shoehorn it in and the inevitable controversy that will result.
I feel like this whole thing just epitomizes the result of people treating broadway like the end-all-be-all of performances in general. Not everything needs to be on broadway to be good and worth seeing. There are tons of shows that are absolutely wonderful and also are not right for broadway. Musical improv is great and wonderful and I'm sure FLS is incredible at it, but I'm not sure if broadway is the place for it. I'm all for broadway adapting with the times but I don't think I like a fully improvised show getting a broadway run.

As per the announcement
Freestyle Love Supreme will feature Andrew Bancroft AKA "Jelly Donut," Arthur Lewis AKA "Arthur the Geniuses," Bill Sherman AKA "King Sherman," Chris Sullivan AKA "Shockwave," Anthony Veneziale AKA "Two-Touch" and Utkarsh Ambudkar AKA "UTK."
Special surprise guests are planned for select performances during the run, which could include, in addition to Miranda, FLS members Christopher Jackson, Daveed Diggs and James Monroe Iglehart, along with Wayne Brady, Ashley Pérez Flanagan and many more.
So maybe someone you know will be there, maybe not. Unless they reveal some high concept stuff to elevate this, I will definitely pass.
Im not interested, but dont really care if it plays Broadway or not. I mean if magicians, musicians and even just talks (Mel Brooks) can occupy a theater, why not this?

FSL announces its coming to Broadway.
Me: oh good, another show where scalpers will make it impossible to see it because theyll resell tickets for insane prices and where people who have seen it other times wont give other people a chance to see it because theyll be at the theater everyday.

From their FAQ, looks like they’re using yo. How would that work in the booth?

This will likely be considered a special event, a la Springsteen on Broadway, and will not be nominated for any of the traditional Tonys. This is NOT a LMM show, it is only produced by him. All of the songs are improved on the spot, and no two shows are the same, so you can't possibly shoehorn it in to any category.
I would see this just to see Brady do improve live. Curious if they have the dates of their guests announced soon. FYI, I've seen Brady live in his solo show and it was fantastic.

I really doubt it will be considered at the Tonys next year. That would be asking if the In Residences would be up for a Tony, which would only happen if the season for musicals was horrible. The only reason people think it might is because LMM is semi-involved, that's it. I doubt this would be a bad show, but even if it's amazing, I don't see why the Tony voters would even nom (or for even what what for? Best Musical?)
This is a good case for bringing back the Special Theatrical Event category. Same with the David Byrne show and the Illusionists and Oh Hello and Springsteen. (They'd have to create rules about the length of the engagement so these one-week "In Residence" people wouldn't be eligible)

I was lucky enough to win the TodayTix lottery for this when it was at Greenwich House; Chris Jackson was the guest.
I've seen musical improv all over the city and I'll admit, this was leagues ahead of any other group I've seen. Sure, the buzz and prestige in the room may have had something to do with it, but it was undeniably a good time.
I probably wouldn't be in a rush to pay Broadway prices for it (I rush or lottery everything anyway) unless I was guaranteed to see LMM, but it sounds like not announcing a schedule is part of their brand.
I was hoping that Chris Sullivan AKA "Shockwave" is the actor who plays Toby on This Is Us on TV. He's got a great voice! He was Hermes in Hadestown off-Broadway and he's on the cast recording. But it's not him.

OK but I was LITERALLY thinking the EXACT SAME THING!!! I would love to see him come to Broadway at some point or another - maybe a limited run as Hermes later on in the show's life span?

I hope he comes back to Broadway too!
He's a very successful TV actor who works 9 months out of the year in LA. Doubtful.
Maybe he’ll pull a Jim Parsons.
Anyway, do you think Lin will really show up? Did he perform at the off Broadway version? What are the odds that he will post on Twitter when he plans on going in?

Yes, he will. Yes, he did. Probably not.
