When will the Palace Theatre renovations be completed and have any shows been announced to play there?

You’re probably hoping beetle juice moves there

The theater only recently began construction earlier this year and it's estimated to be done by the end of 2021 to early 2022.

People on here had some rumors of a Funny Girl revival, but honestly it's far too early to know. There have already been some delays for construction, so it's very possible it could even take even longer than what is anticipated. Either way, we just have to wait.

Does anyone know if the construction is still stopped or if they resumed the works?

Construction is still underway. A large portion of the stage left wall (facing 47th Street) has been removed and there is now a large hole where the stage used to be. Large tarps are hanging from the top of the proscenium all the way down to where the floor of the orchestra pit used to be. A good portion of the hotel above is gone - mostly just the "skeleton" is left.

Any photos of this. Have not been in the city for almost 4 years and doubt I will get back in any time soon. Surprised it still ongoing with no idea when shows will resume and if so with what permanent restrictions .

Thanks. for the photos.

Looks like the old Times Square is rapidly disappearing. Nothing more now than a race to see what comes down next. Sadly Thanksgiving parade cancelled. 2World wars could not do it but the ruling gang in Albany and NYC governments were successful. Christmas this year should be a barrel of laughs. New Years will be a somber event.

Not looking forward to 2021.

You haven't been in NYC for almost 4 years and yet all you do is mope and whine about how it's changing and you don't like it. 200k have died and NY has managed some of the most effective control in the country, but you bitch about the goddamn parade being canceled. Shut up and move on- go bother the people wherever you live now

You are aware that both world wars were fought OVERSEAS right? We are currently fighting a war with a virus here IN America, in NYC. There's really no comparison. Obviously when a war with a virus is being fought IN the place a parade is taking place, it's going to be canceled. This isn't something we're fighting overseas like both world wars were.

First of all, the Thanksgiving parade isn't canceled, it's just going to be in a different format and streamed. Second, the parade was actually canceled for three years in a row during WWII. Third, the "old" Times Square coming down you are lamenting? That hotel that is coming down was built in 1990. Nobody has ever waxed romance about that building. Replacing it will be an updated Palace theatre and *new* performance spaces. NYC changes. Broadway changes.

literally stop talking, the Macy Day parade didn't happen during WW2 from 1942-1944 due to rationing of rubber and helium

What is the realistic probably of the theater being raised? I’m wondering it’s more or less the bare bones of the Palace than the full house and proscenium.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

It’s a landmark so it’s def going to be the auditorium and proscenium. But maybe a bigger stage?
