Haven’t posted on this board in ages.  I saw the show last night.  I really enjoyed it.  I laughed a lot, but thought it was a teeny bit overhyped. (I had built it up a lot.) The laughs per minute ratio wasn’t quite there for me, but comedy is so subjective.  I loved the ending.

Anyway, does anyone know the songs played preshow? They’d make a jaunty mix to get my butt moving at the gym.

Also, I have a ticket for July 18, center mezz that I won’t be using. I don’t mind selling at a bit of a loss.  I read in a post above that there’s a board for this, so I’ll post it there in case anyone’s interested.

Edit: It looks like the full pre-show playlist is on Spotify, plus extras, directly from Cole Escola!

Anyone try rush for this yet? How many people were there? Wanting to get a single ticket tomorrow, but don't feel like waking up too early.

Given how hot it will betomorrow (reaching 92 degrees), I wonder if they'll sell ice cream at the Lyceum? I know in West End it's normal to sell ice cream at the theater but somehow it's not that common on Broadway."

Ice cream isn't noisy enough, so probably not.

It seems busier than average with the tickets being available if you get in line by or just before 8 but with the added show tonight, I got a ticket this afternoon for the box. So with the holiday week, it’s prob worth a shot.

Had a blast with it. View was pretty good too from the box.

Saw the show tonight. It was my 3rd time seeing it and it was funny as ever. Didn’t notice too much different. Some new costumes, a few new jokes, and some addition to the medley. It’s so so funny I just can’t believe it. I can’t wait to see it again. Really inspiring as a young queer comedian to see a work like this on Broadway.

Any more experiences with winning the lottery?

I won the lottery for this past Friday - ticket was front row center. Great seat for a great show!

Given the choice between similarly priced seats marked partial view, would you pick front mezzanine extreme audience left, or front row balcony relatively close to the center?

I will only say that I think the second balcony seats in the Lyceum are pretty decent.  It is a small theatre.

Will the critics be as kind this time around.  I am sensing a possible disturbance in the force.

…based on what? It’s the same production and has been getting the same enthusiastic audience response.

Saw it Saturday afternoon. Definitely lived up to the hype, it was a delight.

Not so much of a delight? The audience, I couldn't tell if alcohol or general obnoxiousness, was one of those that you can tell were determined to let everyone know what a good time they were having. Was it a competition with other audience members? Who knows. All I know is that pockets of braying mules insistent on laughing long after the joke, or with anticipation of the next, so loud that you couldn't hear the actual dialogue.

Why wouldn't they?  It's the exact same production a few months later.

Sorry, but your post is kind of "Broadway Flash" level dumb.

I hope that it will once again be adored because I haven't laughed this hard since the first time I saw Book of Mormon in previews, but there is this little phenomenon known as "backlash" that could rear its ugly head, so maybe not a totally unfounded question. And you know that expectations are quite different for off-Broadway and Broadway, especially for a comedy this scrappy and intentionally lowbrow, repeatedly described by the author and star as stupid (which of course it isn't), but I suppose some joyless idiot could take them at their word.

False. I was also at the 5pm show. I had one guy behind me who was slightly annoying. But the audience was nothing like you described.

Or, and hear me out, you had different experiences because of where you were sitting! Strange concept, I know.

Apparently, and extremely appropriately, the opening night party will be held at the Eagle.

We could have been sitting next to each other or in the same row.

Because I guess it matters, I was in Orchestra Left Row N.

I am coming to New York the last week of October. Any news/chance this extends to that time?

''I am coming to New York the last week of October. Any news/chance this extends to that time?''

Too early to tell. ''Oh, Mary!'' just started previews two weeks ago, and opens this Thursday (July 11). Let's see how the reviews and the box office play out. Fingers crossed!

Same section, row B. I’m telling you, it was one loud honking laugh guy a few rows behind me that would laugh at everything. It was obnoxiously loud but you can’t pick your seat mates. Other than him, our section wasn’t as you described.
