(not even just for NtN now- ALL the new shows are opening March/April)
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
They're closing the balcony to turn it into an 800 seat theatre? Interesting choice.
I think that's a very good idea. It's a really small show. The smaller they can make the venue, the better :)

Hurray! Good for them, and I'm very excited to see this.
However, the only Tony shake-up this will create will be in Leading Actress, as well as perhaps supporting actor. The Best Musical award was determined quite some time ago.
Clowns, it'll shake up the nominations for best musical, and while i agree it won't be Billy elliot (not for qualities sake but because BE is Best Musical fodder, designed specifically to win the award) it will probably sneak in with a nomination.
I highly doubt that. Though it's only real competition is "Story of my life" (unless TOS possibly comes back...) so I guess it's not impossible.
I still doubt it will create a shakeup. SOML is a wonderful little show but not so sure it really had a chance anyway. They'll just look for a show to fill in the space between BILLY, 9 TO 5, and SHREK.
Nothing really changes in the Best Musical category.
See, that's totally sad that it doesn't have a great shot at winning the Best Musical Tony. I'm sure Billy Elliot is absolutely amazing (I need to get on seeing it, actually haha), but I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume it does not NEED to win. Next to Normal... would REALLY benefit from winning it I think. It's a tiny original musical about mental illness- and it's an incredible show, but that still doesn't mean it doesn't need all the help it can get, you know?
Billy Elliot will do just fine no matter what
*sigh*

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
