There just isn't a finer performance than her Annie Sullivan. Then, compare that to her role in Fatso. So versitile. Oh, I just loved her in film.

"Broadway's marquees will be dimmed at 8 PM June 8 in tribute to Ms. Bancroft, Mel Brooks' spokesman, John Barlow, told Playbill.com."
That's really sad
Am I the only one that loves The Turning Point? No one seems to mention it...
No you are absolutely not! I love that flick!
I remember I was pretty young when I saw it, totally fell in love with both of them, especially during the scene on the terrace.
Thank God for THE TURNING POINT.
Suzanne Farrell, Peter Martins, Marcia Haydee, Richard Cragun, Lucette Aldous, Fernando Bujones, Antoinette Sibley, Marianna Tcherkassky, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and the glorious dancers of ABT all on the silver screen in one package!
Bancroft as Emma was once again brilliant.
And lest we forget - Starr Danias, Leslie Browne, Alexandra Danilova, and James Mitchell.
I so wanted to be a dancer after I saw that movie... in New York City. Somewhat achieved the dancer part...
Rath!
I danced Le Spectre de La Rose with Starr.
Danilova, Balanchine's 2nd unofficial wife and a great Ballerina from the Maryinsky School.
James Mitchell, Dream Curly and Palmer Courtland.
Rath, do I know you?
No - I can't put two steps together. :) But I've always been fascinated to an extent by the lives of ballet dancers, and that movie was all about that.
I love The Turning Point. I love all her films.
And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson

God Bless Anna Maria Italiano,,her and her family are in my prayers. I loved and respected her as both a person and an actress. "FATSO" will always be one of my favorites.
I was also a huge fan of "Garbo Talks"... she was truly a shining star and I feel so bad for Mel...
i love THE TURNING POINT also. thank you, ms bancroft, for sharing your incredible talent.
So, so, so so sad. At first I couldn't believe it.... What a wonderful actress and what a great loss.
I love her in every single movie she appeared in, whether it was "The Graduate", "The Turning Point" or "The Miracle Worker", but also in her smaller roles like "The Roman Spring Of Mrs. Stone" or her really funny and touching part in "Keeping The Faith".
May she rest in peace.
This one really got to me. I think Ann Bancroft is one of the best actors of her generation. What a great, classy and funny woman. She truly will be missed.
In one of the obits on TV it said she talked Mel into musicalizing The Producers. In addition originally up for the Mrs Robinson role was Lauren bacall. Bancroft was quoted as saying The Miracle Worker & not The Graduate was her favorite role
Am I the only one who remembers ANNIE AND THE SEVEN HOODS for TV?
I was very young and staying up way past bed time because mom let me so it is a blurry memory but I'll never forget - "Here comes the Queen, Bambi Levine."

She is one of my favorite actors. One of her more recent performances that I love is in Home for the Holidays. She was hilarious as Holly Hunter's mom.
Last night, was the first time I ever cried when I heard that a famous person had passed away. It was such a shock, and it's such a loss.
Cheers to the fabulous Ann Bancroft.
I hope she's somewhere out there playing scrabble with Judy Garland, Judy Holliday, Ruth Gordon and Jessica Tandy.
