What amazes me about all these rants is that the root of the conflict seems to be that Mel didn't get his regularly scheduled blow job.

MORET: Shaun Robinson from "Access Hollywood." I'm still stunned when you said 50/50 would go see Mel Gibson's film. What's the general Hollywood reaction? We know his agents dropped him.

ROBINSON: Right. His agent dropped him. A number of his big named co-stars in the past stayed away from him and have not made any comment at all. It's really interesting. We did this poll asking people, would you go see a Mel Gibson movie?

Fifty one percent said yes. One of the comments that we got from a woman, she says give me a break. She set him up. Pushed his buttons, worked him in a tirade and recorded that to be out there for money. There's absolutely no excuse for behavior like this. For people to be supporting him, say in saying it was her fault he went into a rage. That's outrageous and it's very surprising.

While I'm stunned that any demographic could come out in Mel's favor in any way, much less 50%, I have to consider the pool that they drew from. If Access Hollywood was a magazine, it would be displayed in the grocery store next to the National Enquirer.

As stated in the transcript Mr Midwest provided, many people tend to blame the victim. It makes them feel safe, because of course this sort of thing would never happen to them.

I was done with Mel two decades ago. I never found him all that attractive, not that it would factor into how I felt about him, and never thought much of him as an actor. I kind of wish I did, so I could stop supporting him, but the truth is, the only two films of his I ever really liked were Mad Max and Braveheart.

I don't think there's enough help in the world to turn this trainwreck around, and while, as a rule, I don't wish harm upon anyone, if Mel were to carry out his threat to hurt himself by say, driving off a cliff (alone), I don't think it would hurt my feelings too much.

I stopped being surprised about what people will say when I heard/read Chris Brown's fans after those photos of Rhianna came out trolling that 'well, maybe she had it coming' and other stuff of that nature.

Something that has gone through my mind is why does her voice sounds so very clear? I hear she recorded the calls so I wonder if she had him on speaker phone to record the calls. It just sounds almost as if she was in a studio at a mic.

This entire situation - the people involved, the publicity, the luridness, and yes, the speculation (which I have done) - is simply grotesque.

I heard on a completely unreliable site that these tapes have been doctored. Not that he didn't say those things, but that her voice was edited out to be replaced by the calm voice you hear on the 4th tape. But like I said, it wasn't like I heard it on any reliable source. He's still an ass.

They just had an analyst on the Today Show that said there is no way the tapes were doctored. The reason she sounds so clear is because she is speaking directly into the microphone while Mel is coming through on speaker phone. They also reported her son with Timothy Dalton had witnessed some of the abuse and the dentist who treated her broken teeth is set to testify against Mel.

To answer the whole legality of the tapes question that romantico so wanted the answers to...

"Legal experts say that’s where the recording’s admissibility becomes murky. In California, both parties must consent to have a phone conversation recorded. Under normal circumstances, legal experts said, that would make the Gibson tapes unusable in court, and their recording potentially a crime.

But Dmitry Gorin, a defense attorney and former deputy district attorney, said there are rare exceptions when surreptitious recordings can be cleared. One, he said, is for victims of violence.

“If she falls in that exception then recording is in fact admissible,” Gorin said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the allegations of domestic violence.

Officials said the recordings in question, released by celebrity news outlet RadarOnline.com, would be added to other evidence being reviewed by detectives.

Stanford law professor Robert Weisberg said Grigorieva would also have to prove her intention at the time of the recording was to eventually assist police – not, say, to sell the tapes for profit."

Looks like Mel's ex wife is gonna side with Mel claiming she saw no sign of physical abuse in their 28 year marriage(notice she leaves out verbal abuse though)I find this hard to believe that Mel has just become this monster. Money can buy many things including loyalty.

They have released 5 tapes already and I hope there are no more.There is nothing more Mel can say that would be considered shocking. He claims his ex GF has made him go broke? LOL! Forget the millions he made in the 80's and 90's. THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST made him an all new fortune (and his ex wife got half of his net worth so how does the ex wife get a free pass I wonder?)Every day more and more comes out about this case and I am sure we are only hearing bits of it right now. Mel should take the money he has and buy an island and retire.Of course I have to ask, what woman on this planet will want him after hearing all of this? Then again if Rush Limbaugh could find a girl friend/wife I am sure Mel can as well.

In the 2008 documentary "Acting Class of 1977," Gibson revealed he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. "I had really good highs but some very low lows," Gibson said. "I found out recently I'm manic depressive."

Gibson was interviewed for the documentary by one of his National Institude of Dramatic Art classmates in 2002, four years before his 2006 DUI arrest, in which he spat anti-semitic slurs that he later said were "blurted out in a moment of insanity." He's rarely brought up his bipolar diagnosis since.

So for at least 8 years he has kept this a secret when he has had multiple incidents that show him very low lows and it certainly seems that he has not sought any assistance if she is telling him to get help.

One person said, “he gives an incredible performance. If you can forget what happened, and I didn’t have tabloid images racing through my mind watching him, it’s really something.
